Charles Ray Larrabee, 78, of Kennewick, passed away September 25, 2007 in Kennewick. He was born May 10, 1929 in Batavia, Illinois and lived in the Tri-Cities for 65 years. He grew up in Aurora, Illinois, the youngest of six children.

Charles played basketball for the Richland Bombers, the Army, and for Eastern Washington University. He got his teaching degree from Eastern and taught and coached for 34 years in Pasco. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Kennewick and loved gardening, fishing, golfing, the Mariners, and his family most of all.

Just being with his kids and grandkids made him happy, and being there for their firsts was a source of pride. He loved being a teacher and impacting so many kids in the community.

Charles served in the Army from 1948-1950. He was a teacher with the Pasco School District.

Survivors include his wife, Lael Weber Larrabee ('52); daughters Debrah Eilers (Ron) of Moses Lake, WA, and Carrie Conley (Steve) of Tri-Cities; sons Steve (Geri), Marc (Jodi), and Ed (Michele), all of the Tri-Cities; twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; siblings Pat ('45), Ted, Marge, and Edith; and his beloved dog, Daisy.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Ed and Kathryn Larrabee, and his brother Frank.

Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Friday, September 28, 2007 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Kennewick, with graveside services preceding at 10:00 AM at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Richland. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be 6:00 PM Thursday, September 27th at Einan’s Funeral Home, Richland, with visitation from 2:00-5:00 PM, also at Einan’s.
