Leatha Aileen Hultgren Dougherty, 89, a fifty-year resident of Castle Rock, WA, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2008, at her granddaughter's home in Deer Park, WA. She is the loving mother of Barbara (Larry) Palanio of Deer Park and Stanley Woody of Spokane. Her grandchildren (spouses) and great-grand-children are Trisha Palanio of Deer Park, and Anna Palanio-Griffin of Deer Park; Jason and Tricia Palanio of Metaline Falls, WA, and their child; Troy and Dawn Woody of Burbank, WA, and their five children; Dawn (Woody) French of Pasco, WA, and her three children and one great-great-grandson. Leatha's half sister and half brother are Lelah BoudReaux and Richard Sutherland of Medford, OR, a sister-in-law, Audrey Hesser of Aberdeen, WA, and sister-in-spirit, Pauline Billington, of Longview, WA. Mrs. Dougherty is preceded in death by her husband, Wendell Dougherty, on September 7, 2007; brothers, Fredrick and Russell Hultgren; her sister, Ann Landing; a sister-in-spirit, Marie White; and an infant daughter. Born in Rio Vista, Solano County, CA, in 1919.

Leatha graduated from high school in Richland, WA, class of 1938.

She is a member of the Grange (60 years), Pythian Sisters, and the Castle Rock Methodist Church.

Funeral Services honoring Mrs. Dougherty were held in Castle Rock on September 15, 2008, at the Castle Rock Methodist Church with Rev. Floyd Green officiating, followed with internment in the Whittle-Hubbard Cemetery, Castle Rock.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Hospice of Spokane or Longview or to the Castle Rock Methodist Church.
