Dale Patrick Traver, 69, of Richland, died February 23rd at Kadlec Medical Center. He was born in Monroe, MI and lived in the Tri-Cities since December 1948.

During his teen years he was active in sports and Explorer Scouts. Dale was a retired U.S. Navy operations specialist and received several honors, commendations and ribbons throughout his 20-year military career. He enjoyed traveling and had the opportunity while serving in the U.S. Navy to visit many countries as well as the North and South Poles. He served in Vietnam and supported the cause for the return of MIA soldiers and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7952, Richland. Dale worked for the state of Washington for 20 years after retiring from the Navy. Dale's hobbies included fishing and stamp, coin, and rock collecting. He also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.

He is survived by brothers Ray Traver and fiancee Deanna Reynolds of Richland; Tom Traver ('58) and sister-in-law Mardie Traver of Sun Lakes, AZ; nephew Tom Traver, Tom's wife Margaret Perrone and their daughters Giuditta, Gabriella and Eva Traver of Benicia, CA; uncle Raymond V. Traver of Hopkinsville, KY; and cousins who live out of state.

Dale was preceded in death by parents Dale L. and Mary Traver of Richland.

Graveside services will take place in the Veterans section of Sunset Memorial Gardens, Richland at 2:00 p.m. February 28, 2008.
