Robert Filsinger

Robert William Filsinger, age 52, passed away unexpectedly on January 2, 2008, at his home in Washington, D.C., where he had resided for the past 18 years.

He was born in Pasco and attended schools in Richland until the age of 17, when he joined the U.S. Navy and served his country from 1973 to 1975 aboard the USS Rendova.

He was employed by the Department of Fish and Game as a mail courier.

He enjoyed sports and was an avid fan of the Washington Capitals and Baltimore Orioles.

He liked to read dictionaries and encyclopedias and was an excellent cook, once preparing a full Thanksgiving dinner for his sister.

He is survived by his mother, Patty Monroe Old ('49); sisters, Sandra ('72) (William) Gaudette, Becky (Dave) Shupe, and Karin ('78) (Dan) Spanner; brother, James ('83) Monroe (Nancy) Filsinger ; stepfather, Jim Filsinger and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Robert York; grandparents, Robert and Lorita Monroe and Thomas William and Elizabeth York.

He will be sadly missed by his family and friends for his gentleness, kind-hearted generosity and wry sense of humor.

His family finds comfort in knowing he is safely with his Lord.

Funeral services will be held at Latney Funeral Home in Washington D.C.
