Marilyn Sylvester - 1949

Marilyn Sylvester - recent

F. Marilyn Wulf, 79, a Kennewick resident for over 40 years, passed peacefully in sleep and went joyously to be with her Savior and heavenly family on Monday, February 8, 2010. She was born in Richfield, UT on September 11, 1930. She came north to Washington around 1944 when her father, Roy Sylvester, came to help build the Hanford reactors and later to operate them. She graduated from Columbia High School in 1949. She found her soul mate, Gene L. Wulf, and they were married December 28, 1948.

She enjoyed reading, cooking and family fishing trips to the Potholes Reservoirs and Puget Sound areas. After the children left home, she had a career managing a self-help gas station and also working in laundry at Kennewick Life Care Center. Major highlights in traveling were visiting her son, David, and daughter, Joyce, at various military duty stations in Iowa, Missouri, Alabama, Florida, Texas and Alaska. A special vacation was to Toledo, Spain while David and family were stationed there. She loved to visit family and especially get to know all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were recipients of lots of love and presents. In turn, she received cherished love and adoration from each of them.

Marilyn was faithful and true member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many church positions including teaching and providing compassionate service of great importance to her. She did lots of family genealogy and temple work. She faithfully traveled to the Seattle Temple often and was so joyous in having the Columbia River Temple built so close to home. She was a great support to her children and grandchildren who served in the mission field. Her faith and knowledge of God were of great comfort to her soul and allowed her to go quietly and peacefully in death.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Florence Sylvester, brothers, Byron and Merrill, and sisters Layell, Carol and Deana, loving husband, Gene Wulf, and daughters, Marion and Ellen.

She is survived by son, David (Jill), daughters, Joyce (David) Hanks, and Arlene (Gene) Lively, 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brother, Sterling Sylvester, and sisters, Laverne Christensen and Bernice Salvaye.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 11, 2010, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union Street, Kennewick. Services will be held at the Union Street LDS Church, 515 S. Union Street, Friday, February 12th, at 1:00 p.m. with viewing beginning at 12:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, 10th and Union Street, Kennewick.
