Susan Vickery - recent

Susan, 69, died unexpectedly of heart failure on Saturday, February 27, 2010, at her home in Bellevue, WA. She was born on May 10, 1940 in Bozeman, MT. She is predeceased by her parents Jack and Ferne Vickery, and her brother Alan Vickery ('57).

She earned a BA in 1969 in English from Whitworth College in Spokane and a Masters in Education at Seattle Pacific University in 1993. She pledged to Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and maintained lifelong friendships with her sorority sisters. Susan started her working days as an Elementary School Teacher in 1969 in Othello, WA. She taught all grade levels from elementary school to middle school to College level.

After her retirement, she volunteered at the Crossroads Bellevue Police Substation and both the Redmond and Bellevue Senior Centers. Recently, she retired from her volunteer work and concentrated on her passions: making beautiful award-winning quilts; loving her family, especially her grandchildren; helping friends and neighbors; spoiling her dogs Nicky and Nora, and cats Kobe and Sassy; and cheering at Seattle Sounders soccer games. There was no greater soccer fan than Susan!

She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, John L. Webb of Bellevue, her son Bill Webb (Krista) of Poulsbo, WA, and her daughter Kersten Harasty (Bryan) of Chicago, IL. She will be deeply missed by her four beloved grandchildren: Jillian and John Webb, and Alexis and Kaitlyn Harasty. In addition, she is mourned by her nephew Buzz Vickery ('87)(Tabitha Leibrecht) and their son Elijah and many, many friends.
