JERRY E. MANESS ~ Class of 1960
October 21, 1941 - September 29, 2011

Jerry Maness - 1960

Jerry E. Maness was born on October 21, 1941, in Keys, OK to Roy and Wanda Maness. He came to Richland at the age of 10 and graduated from Columbia High School in Richland in 1960 and later graduated from J. M. Perry Institute in Yakima with a degree in electronics.

As his niece Debra Ledford wrote "Jerry was a man of few words, but his words spoke a volume of love! Your home was our safe place, our fun place to laugh play but mostly to feel love. Every child who came across your path was blessed, embraced, loved and became a happier child because of you." Jerry was the true definition of a "gentle man," never judging others.

He was preceded in death by his father Roy Maness and his daughter Robynne Maness.

He is survived by his soul mate and best friend, Judy Harris; mother, Wanda Maness; sisters, Marlene Maness Isom ('57) and Patty Maness Lambert ('61); children Dawn Maness, David Maness and Brycen Alder; stepchildren, Michele Larson and James Alder. In addition, he is survived by twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

There will be a celebration of Jerry's life at 1508 Farrell Lane in Richland on Saturday, October 8, 2011, at 2pm. Please share with us your memories of your your friendship with Jerry. Come hungry as there will be lots of food.
