Richard "Rich" O'Malley, 55, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 21, 2013 surrounded by his family and friends.

Rich was born on July 3, 1958 to Clarence and Darlene Olander O'Malley. He was born and raised in Richland before building his dream home with his loving wife Karla Heiman O'Malley in Kennewick, WA. He graduated from Richland High School with class of 1976, and was an all-state football player with multiple honors; he was proud to be a Bomber. He received his Associates of Computer Science degree from Columbia Basin College and spent the majority of his career at Energy Northwest.

While at CBC, Rich met his future wife, Karla, who he married on August 23, 1980... Karla has been the love of his life for 33 years. Together they had three beautiful children who he loved unconditionally and was extremely proud of. He enjoyed multiple outdoor activities including hunting, fishing and spending time camping with his family at Wallowa Lake.

Rich is survived by his loving wife Karla, son Aaron (Jennifer) O'Malley, daughter Rachel O'Malley, and son Shawn O'Malley. Rich was expecting his first grandchild in January of 2014 (Aaron and Jennifer). He is also survived by sister Sue O'Malley (Steve) Bock ('67), Sister Barb O'Malley (Bill) Wedberg ('70) and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He will be dearly missed by all his family and long-time friends. He will always be remembered for his laugh, witty sense of humor, colorful stories and gadgets.

Visitation (closed casket) will be held from 5pm - 8pm on Friday, July 26, 2013 at the Einan's in Richland. Funeral services will be held at Einan's at 10am on Saturday, July 27, 2013 with burial to follow. There will be a celebration of life to follow at the O'Malley family home.
