Inspector Eric Richard Fillion, RCMP-GRC (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) of Rockland, Ontario, Canada, passed away on Saturday, June 29th, 2013, at the age of 48 after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Eric was born in Levis, Quebec, Canada, on June 8th, 1965. He moved to the United States at the age 3 and traveled to numerous places with his parents until they settled in the Tri-Cities in 1975.

He graduated from Richland High School in 1983. He then went to Columbia Basin College to become a welder. He joined the union in Tacoma and worked in a few construction jobs. After a few years he decided to go back to Canada. There he worked construction in Regina, Saskatchewan, while at the same time applying for the RCMP. He graduated from the RCMP training academy on July 11th, 1988, Troop 18. He received his 25 years of service medal on May 31st, 2013. He really loved his job.

He is survived by his wife Nancie, sons Antoine and Jeremie, daughter Sydney, parents Emile and Aline Fillion, brother Yvan (Kim) Fillion ('81), sister Carolyn (Garrett) Venters, father-in-law Claude Bolduc, brother-in-law Alain (Patricia) Bolduc and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces.

Eric still had many special friends in the Tri-Cities who he stayed in contact with throughout the years. He liked to fish, boating and traveling. He will be missed by all of us so much. The funeral services were at the Tres-Sainte Trinity Church in Rockland, Ontario, Canada, on July 5th, 2013.
