Blaine Hopkins ~ recent

Beloved husband, brother, uncle and friend, Blaine Lee Hopkins passed peacefully on October 27, 2014, following a stroke caused by a brain cell bleed.

Blaine was born November 29, 1950, in Tacoma, WA and moved to Richland in 1952. He attended Richland schools, graduating from Richland's Columbia High in 1969. In 1974, he received an Associate Degree in Applied Science from Columbia Basin College.

Blaine held various jobs before becoming a Non-Destructive Examination technician with Areva, a profession in which he was well respected and admired, and from which he retired in 2009.

In 1973, Blaine married the former Christine Marshall, and they became a well balanced team who worked together for an ever growing relationship. The two shared a great love for each other, for their families, for their many friends, and for worldwide travel. They took numerous vacations together and recently returned from a trip to French Polynesia in celebration of more than forty years of marriage.

Woodworking was Blaine's favorite hobby, and his craftsmanship was admired by all who saw his work. He was generous in sharing his skill with friends, and took equal care in creating the trim for an entire home, or mending a broken rocking horse.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Hopkins, father, Leon Hopkins, and nephew Kenneth Webster, Jr.

Blaine is survived by his wife, Chris Marshall Hopkins ('69), sister Karen Daniel (Ric), nephew Darrell Webster, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and his furry companion Rosie

Graveside services will be held at 1pm, November 1, 2014, at Sunset Gardens in the Garden of Peace, across from the pond, with luncheon following at Events at Sunset. Highway 240 & the Bypass, Richland.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Safe Harbor Family Support Center, 1111 N. Grant Place, Kennewick, WA 99336.
