Lael Ellingson Kamilos ~ recent

Former Anchorage, resident Lael Stratton-Kamilos passed away peacefully at her home in Enumclaw, WA on February 16, 2015. She was born in Superior, MT on June 13, 1937, to Leslie and Leona Ellingson. The family moved to the Enumclaw area when she was a young girl. She moved to Richland as a teen and graduated from Richland's Columbia High School in 1955.

She married Lee Stratton later that year, and the couple had four daughters. They lived in the Seattle area until 1966, when they moved to Anchorage.

Lael moved to Washington in 1981, and married Paul Kamilos in 1994. They returned to Anchorage to be near family in 1998. After retirement in 2006, they lived their dream and traveled around the states in their RV for two years before returning "home" to Enumclaw.

Lael enjoyed knitting and crocheting, making baby blankets for every grandchild and great-grandchild. She was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Her beautiful smile will be remembered by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Leona; her father, Les; her daughter, Kelli Henshaw; and her sisters, Jackie Galimanis and Mickey Bloxom ('60) .

She is survived by her husband, Paul; her daughters, Konni (John Logan), Gerri (Sean Martin) and Julie (Randy Earp); stepson, Nick Kamilos (Adina); her grandchildren, Justyn, Molly, Ben, Ethan, Ryan, Katie, Connor, Lauren, Sophia, Isabella and Josephine; her great-grandchildren; and her sisters Ele and Patti ('59) (Jon).

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015, at 1pm at the Park Center Hotel in Enumclaw, WA. We would like to thank the Hospice nurses for their loving care, and Momma's friend, MaryLou Galvin, for her love and support. Memorial donations can be made to your local Hospice.
