Gary passed away October 1, 2015, at the age of 65, after a five year battle with cancer. Born on February 10, 1950, in Wichita, Kansas, Gary was the second and youngest child of John and Edna Deckard Pierce.

He graduated from Richland's Columbia High School in 1968 and Eastern Washington University in 1972 with a B.A. in Engineering. Gary married Kristin McColgin Little on June 19, 1975, and had two daughters.

Gary wore many hats during his working career, including that of an engineer, pipefitter with Local 598, and barber at Johnny’s Uptown Barber Shop.
