Doug, 58, died May 12, 2015, at his home in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He was born November 11, 1956, to Evan Dewane and Ann Nelson Jenson in Logan, Utah.

He graduated from Richland's Columbia High School in 1974. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Munich, Germany. Doug graduated with his bachelor's degree in chemistry from Brigham Young University in 1981, followed by a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry in 1989.

Doug married Kathryn Barrus in the Logan, Utah, LDS temple April 21, 1979. They had two daughters, Laura and Melanie, and two beagles, Tasche and Susy.

Doug was actively involved in his community. He was a member of the Eastern Idaho Photographic Society and loved to take photos of landscapes and his grandchildren. He also was very involved with HAM radio and helped with communications for events, such as horse and car races. He administered many HAM radio tests to others seeking a HAM radio license. He also applied his HAM radio experience to his LDS calling of regional communication in the case of emergency.

Doug was an avid "rut nut" and long time member of the Oregon-California Trails Association (OCTA). He served as president and as vice president of the Idaho chapter of OCTA at various times and also served on the national board of the organization.

Doug loved to be outdoors. He was known for hiking, biking, mountain climbing, rock climbing, cross-country skiing, snow shoeing and back packing. He dearly loved his family and his dogs.

Doug was preceded in death by his father, Evan Dewane Jenson.

Survivors include his mother Ann Nelson Jenson; his wife Kathryn Barrus Jenson ('76); his daughters: Laura (Nicholas) Kohler and Melanie (Shiloh) Judd; his siblings: Kaylene ('76)(Doug) Kane, Mary Lynn ('81)(William) Talbot, Gary ('84)(Becky) Jenson; and three grandchildren: Evan, Amelia, and Baby Boy Judd, who is expected in August, 2015.

Funeral Services were held May 19, 2015, at the Idaho Falls LDS Parkwood Chapel.
