Chuck passed away on June 15, 2016, at the age of 70. He was surrounded by his loved ones at Kadlec Medical Center at the time of his passing. He was born June 7, 1946, at Kadlec Hospital and spent his whole life in the Tri-City area.

Chuck was a proud member of Columbia High School Class of 1964, he then attended Columbia Basin College to pursue an Associate’s degree in Fire Science. He dedicated 38 years of his life as a Fireman and was eventually promoted to Captain with the Hanford Fire Department Local I-24 before retiring in June, 2014. Chuck was a proud husband, father and grandfather.

He married his high school sweetheart and had three children and three grandchildren as well as many friends who he considered family (especially Theresa Poston and the Brown Family). He made friends wherever he went with his outgoing and energetic personality. Chuck and Jane loved taking the motorhome on trips, especially to the Oregon coast as well as the family favorite location Disneyland. He always encouraged the family to pursue any hobby, sport or activity. Chuck enjoyed spending time at the Horn Rapids Go Kart track and fishing with his longtime friends.

Chuck is preceded in death by his brother Cary and both parents.

He is survived by his Turtle Dove of 49 years Jane Pierce Groff ('64); his twin boys Michael and Sean; his daughter Chrystal; and his three granddaughters Stephanie, Hailey, and Rachael.

A Celebration of Life was held at Events at Sunset on July 1, 2016. The family would like to thank the Oncology Unit at Kadlec hospital for their outstanding care during the last week of Chuck’s life.
