******************************************** Additional Text for the 9/23/05 Alumni Sandstorm ******************************************************* >>From: Richard Anderson ('60) mailto:bomber60@richlandbombers.com Re: R-Cloud Logo The count of letters in the Tri-City Herald is up to six: Nate Holdren's original and five responses. You can read them all at http://alumnisandstorm.com/Mascot/050921-TCH_Editorials.htm I talked with Burt about his letter before it was published and he gave me considerable insight into the Herald's letter-publishing policy; namely, that it will run submissions pretty much unedited as far as style or usage are concerned. Which explains how the pretty much incomprehensible "Why would anyone expect anything other than the administration and so-called powers to be put it back on as soon as the former coach retires," sentence in Holdren's letter made it into the paper. I went to the RSD board meeting on September 13th to ask if they planned to do anything about Nate's letter or another, which has not appeared (and most likely will not appear) anywhere [we were copied at Alumni Sandstorm as was TCH, RSD, and RHS (it rarely gets you far when you misspell the names of people you have addressed the letter to)]. Anyway, the general consensus was, "Nate Holdren? Of all people? Gosh." Now all that remains is a scathing editorial excoriating RHS for our wonderful logo and it will be over for a while. (Then they can hop onto the problem of Wa-Hi's Blue Devil mascot which, believe it or not, gets vilified just as much as our R-Cloud. Yikes!) Bomber cheers, -Richard Anderson ('60) ~ two months till hoops! *******************************************************
