******************************************** Additional Text for the 10/15/05 Alumni Sandstorm ******************************************** >>From: Greg Alley ('73) Re: BOMBERS One of our better Bomber athletes is in the Herald today [10/14/05] with another editorial on the Bomber logo. Nate Holdren ('90) will stir the locals up and I would imagine the many historians on this website. It is America and he has the right to his opinion, but comparing the bomb with swastikas, the confederate flag, and the world trade center is pretty poor. I obviously am proud to be a Bomber since I read this daily report [The Alumni Sandstorm] and write in sometimes. I remember seeing those clips of the bombs going off and the destruction and the dead people and the aftermath of radiation, it was a frightening sight. I am 50 years old and I cannot remember going to the High School or any sporting event in my lifetime and thinking in terms of that tragedy. The nickname is very unique and I hope it never changes in my lifetime, or ever. Keep it Richland Bombers and I hope no one with a political, religious, or personal agenda comes along to change it.
