ROGER QUINN BOLTON, Class of 1966
June 2, 1948 ~ December 25, 2000
Roger Quinn Bolton was born June 2, 1948, in Richland, WA, to Otto
and Runette Bolton. He died December 25, 2000, in Port Orchard,
WA, from a heart attack.
Roger received a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and a
Masters Degree in Sociology from Washington State University. It
was in graduate school at WSU that he met Sandra Carter and after
many years together, they married and lived in Ollala, WA, until
they separated.
Roger was predeceased by his brother, Gaylor ('63) in 1998.
He is survived by his estranged wife, Sandra, and her adopted daughter; his parents, Otto and Runette; his sister Susan ('69), her husband, Dave, and sons; Kevin, Brian, and Evan; and his brother's sons; Scott, Shawn, Mike, and Tim.
Roger, along with Sandy, became quite a gardener while living in
Ollala, with a pond, some sheep, a cow, and his dogs. He had been
working as a drug/alcohol abuse counselor for a local city/county
agency. His health deteriorated from peripheral artery disease to
the point that he could no longer work or live in his home. He
eventually moved temporarily to Port Orchard, WA, where he passed
away unexpectedly just before Christmas from a heart attack.
He was buried in a cemetery overlooking the Washington State
University campus in Pullman. Roger's happiest days, according to
Sandy, were during his time going to school at WSU. That was
where he had always said he wanted to return.
