JOHN B. POQUETTE ~ Class of 1968

John was killed on August 1, 1991, in Lake Tahoe, NV. He was born in Seattle on November 26, 1949, spent most of his life in Richland, and was a member of Northwest United Protestant Church. He graduated from Richland's Columbia High School in 1968, and received his degree from Central Washington State College in Ellensburg.
John was killed by a hit-and-run driver August 1, 1991, in a crosswalk in Lake Tahoe, NV, where he worked as director of human resources at the Lake Tahoe Horizon Casino Resort.
After graduating from college, he worked at the Space Needle in Seattle as director of personnel and later held the same post at the St. Francis in San Franciso, the Washington Plaza and the Stouffer Madison in Seattle, Los Angeles-based Ashkenary Enterprises where John was particularly proud of the L'Ermitage operation, the Stouffer Hamilton in Chicago and the Stouffer Concourse in Los Angeles.
John loved life, his family, and playing tennis and baseball. He was proud of his sons' accomplishments.
He was preceded in death by his father, John H. Poquette, in 1974.
He is survived by his sons, Christopher and Aaron Poquette; his mother, Mayo Poquette; her sister, Ronah Poquette Guthrie ('70) and her son, Brandon; several aunts, uncles and cousins; his close friend, Sheri Dahm, of Lake Tahoe; and many friends across the country.
The funeral service was held at Northwest United Protestant Church.
Einan's Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
