GEORGE MULLIGAN ~ Class of 1957
November 26, 1938 - November 11, 2008
~
The hunt was on, a sure shot was needed, and George Mulligan was called to heaven's happy hunting grounds on November 18, 2008. George, son of John Victor and Ethel Mulligan, charged into life, chest out, chin up and arms back, on November 26, 1938, in St. Paul, MN. He moved with his family to Richland in 1944. George graduated from Columbia High School in 1957with a major in all things competitive and minors in mischief and tall tales.
George was first married to Judy Sargent ('59-RIP) for 20 years and had three children, Kelli, Jon and Tim. He worked for Exxon Nuclear for 35 years. He married Mary in 1984 and moved several times prior to settling in Federal Way, WA. Throughout his life George maintained his passion for competition through hunting, golf, softball and by refereeing football and basketball throughout Washington. If you ever competed against him and think you won, think again ... he played better than you, the scoreboard just couldn't adequately show the quality of his play!
George is survived by his three children, Kelli, Jon and Tim; six grandchildren, Corey, Taylor, Findlay, Bryn, Emiel and Cadey; his wife, Mary; and his sister, Pat ('53). He was preceded in death by his father and mother.
Dad, your love, companionship, stories and zest for life will be missed by all. May the road rise to meet your feet, the hunts be bountiful and may every putt find the bottom of the cup.
A celebration of the life and times of George will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at West Side Church, 615 Wright Street, Richland.
