Jane Gunderson Jensen - recent

Jane Gunderson Jensen, age 63, born in Richland, WA May 28, 1945 to Roy and Constance (Collier) Gunderson returned to her Heavenly Father on July 11, 2008 following a difficult battle with cancer.

She was married to her life-long best friend, James B. Jensen by President Harold B. Lee in the Salt Lake Temple February 26, 1965. She worked hard supporting her husband as he completed his education in Utah, Colorado, Alabama and New York City. When she could, she accompanied him on medical research activities to Denmark, Scotland, England, France, Greece, Israel, Chile, Peru and Bolivia. She lived with her husband and children in Logan, UT, Auburn, Alabama, New York City, and East Lansing, MI and for 19 years in Provo, UT.

She showed her great love for her Savior by spending her life daily in the service of others. She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, bearing a living testimony of the Restored Gospel by serving as Relief Society President (2X), Counselor in Stake R.S. Presidency, as Primary President (3X), Young Woman's President (2X) and in many other teaching and support positions. But, her greatest talent was teaching young children. She worked tirelessly for many years in special education at Provost School in Provo, Utah, helping many children reach educational goals they otherwise would not have achieved. Over the years, her daily walks through her neighborhood rang with "Hi, Mrs. Jensen" from nearly every child who saw her. She was greatly beloved by all who knew her.

She enjoyed outdoors - hiking, camping, and snowshoeing. She was an avid reader, loved music, art and everything beautiful. She maintained a wonderful garden and her home was always spotlessly clean and meals, wonderfully prepared, fed not only her family, but also nearly every needy person she could discover.

She is survived by her husband, James and her children Christian (Becky), Levi (Betsy), Leah (Benjamin) and Joshua (Nichole) of Provo, and Stephanie (Bruce), Davidson (Angela), of Denver, CO., and her sisters Pat Gunderson Foushee ('64), of Portland, OR; and Susie Gunderson Chiles ('60), of Omak, WA, as well as 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bonneville 13th Ward Chapel, 1500 East 800 South, Provo.
