Maitland passed away after a courageous struggle with cancer on May 23, 2009. She was born in Decatur, AL, on January 30, 1930, to Arthur and Hattie McCulloch.

At the age of 14, her family moved to Richland for her father to work on the Hanford Project and she graduated from Richland High School in 1947.

She went to work as a clerk at Hanford security and at the age of 22, she married Harry A. Lee of Richland, a mechanical engineer. She raised three children during her married life, and enjoyed summers at the family cabin at Rimrock Lake, cross-country trips to Alabama, the Washington Coast beaches, Hawaii and Florida. She enjoyed league bowling, and playing the piano. She was an avid reader of mystery books and was a member of Kadlec Auxiliary.

At the age of 39, she attended Columbia Basin College and obtained an associate's degree in computer science. She initially worked for Battelle, and then later for WPPS (Energy Northwest) as a systems analyst. She retired from WPPS in 1986.

We will remember her warm smile, her gift of conversation and humor and her kindness to family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harry Lee and is survived by her children, daughter Karen Lee, son James Lee and wife Angela, daughter Elizabeth Lee Morrisey and husband John, and grandson Maxwell Lee.

Among those she cherished and wished to say goodbye to are family: Wendell and Diane Hill, Robert and Bessie Lovelady, Geraldine Sharp, Jerry and Joanne Hicks, Alice and Bob VerSteeg; and lifelong friends, Doris and Gibby Gibson, Gene Ratliff, Beverly Johnson. She was preceded in death by lifelong friend Lois Reitan.

The immediate family held a private service for her on Wednesday, May 27th. Her ashes will be interred at Sunset Memorial Gardens in the 'Love and Rest' niche mausoleum.

The family requests no flowers, but donations to the Tri-Cities Cancer Center in her name are appreciated.
