TRUELINE JOAN LATTING TAYLOR ~ Class of 1960
January 17, 1942 - December 21, 2009
~
Trueline Joan LATTING Taylor passed gently to her eternal home at the Hospice House in Kennewick, WA. believing with the hymn writer who wrote, "Jesus Led Me All the Way."
Born January 17, 1942, in Pryor, OK, Trueline grew up, however, in Hood River, OR, then moved with her family to Richland, in 1951. In 1960 Trueline graduated from Columbia High, and then in 1966 graduated Northwest Nazarene (College) University (NNU), Nampa, ID, with a degree in Applied Voice. The summers of 1962 and '63 she traveled singing throughout the northwestern US for NNU in two different quartets.
June 28, 1964, Trueline married Paul W. Taylor. They lived in Nampa, ID, Bremerton, Richland and Tacoma, WA, Pasadena, CA, Anchorage and Juneau, AK, raising the four wonderful children they were blessed with: James, Matthew, Kamala, and Amy. Her greatest joy was watching her children grow.
She served the Lord "in the middle of everything" as she was fond of saying, through her extraordinary cooking: for her family, for the governor of Alaska (as Asst. Chef at the governor's mansion in Juneau), and for day care and elementary school children. She sang for the Lord's glory, particularly with her husband Paul, for weddings, retreats, conferences (Cannon Beach Conference Center), revival services, memorial services and more. She was passionate about helping those in need with food, clothing, and household things. Through gardening and giving; through making dolls, teddy bears, and quilts; through "thrifting" and finding -- all during her life she shared everything she had with great joy.
Trueline is survived by her husband, Paul; son James and Merredith (Fletcher) Taylor (grandchildren Austin and Emma); son Matthew Taylor (grandchildren Riley and Garrett); daughter Kamala Taylor; daughter Amy (Taylor) & Karl Ronfeld. Also by her father, Truel "TC" Latting; her only sister, Jan Latting & Ernie McNaught; nephew Chris McNaught; niece Susan (McNaught) & Steve Butkus (grand niece Janae and grand nephew Braeden).
Like her mother, Rena Latting, who died December 19, 2001, and her father "TC", she lived a steadfast life, committed to her Lord, her family and her church. As Trueline "bloomed where she was planted" in every place and season, the fragrance of the Lord she loved and served has remained.
Friends and family are invited to her memorial service Saturday, January 9th at 2 pm. The service will be led by her son James (assisted by Rev. Steven Fletcher) at the Richland Church of the Nazarene, 2500 Jericho Rd., Richland, WA. 99352 (Ph: 509.627.0759)
Memorial contributions may be made in Trueline's name to: Richland Church of the Nazarene Compassionate Ministries.
