CHARLES P. "CHUCK" RATHBUN ~ Class of 1961
July 31, 1943 - July 18, 2009

Passed away July 18, 2009 after a battle with cancer. He was born in Seattle, WA on July 31, 1943 and raised in Richland.

Chuck was the grandson of Paul E. Newport the founder of Benewah Milk Bottles. After high school Chuck joined the Air Force between 1966 and 1970. He then received a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Idaho. Chuck then began working for the Washington State Employment Security Division and retired in February of 2006.

In 1977 he married Barb in Spokane. He loved going to Priest Lake and enjoyed fishing and travel.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Barb, Spokane, 5 children, Lori Gascoyne, Chip Overstreet, Lisa Brooks, Lesli Halverson and Julie Rathbun; two brothers, Doug ('60) and Richard Rathbun ('69) and 15 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2009, at 2pm, at the First Presbyterian Church 318 S. Cedar, Spokane, WA.
