David B. Cates, 62, died April 30, 2009, from heart failure at his home in Kennewick. He was born October 16, 1946, in Richland and was a life-long Tri-City resident.

David graduated from Columbia High School in 1966. He worked in shipping and receiving for PNNL for 31 years. David was an avid golfer and bowler.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Carrie Cates; and brother, Ron Cates ('66).

He left behind his wife, Faye ERDMAN Cates ('65); son, Randy; daughter-in-law, Beth; and three grandchildren of Bend, OR. He is also survived by three sisters, Cindy and Wally Ely, Katherine "Kady" Chadwick and Susan Cates; sister-in-law, Penny Bowen Cates; and nephews, Stephen Cates, Chance and Josh Chadwick; and one niece, Laura Bordreaux.

Einan's Funeral Home, Richland, is in charge of arrangements.
