Alton "Whitey" Schell passed away August 26th at the age of 77. He was born in Mills, NM, and graduated from Columbia High School in 1951. He was known as the "Blonde Bomber" for his basketball skills.
After graduating high school he played basketball at Seattle University. While at Seattle University he enlisted in the Coast Guard serving in Florida and overseas. After 4 years in the Coast Guard he enrolled and graduated from the University of Washington as a civil engineer. He retired from the Boeing Co. after 34 years, and enjoyed many trips to Tucson, AZ, and Mullege, Mexico. He also enjoyed coaching his son and many young men in north Seattle basketball leagues.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years Arlyne, sister Bonnie Tucker of West Richland, son Scott (Julia), daughter Staci (Stan) and granddaughters: Aimee, Erica (Ciez) Kristen, Jordan (Schell). Al will be missed deeply by family and friends.
