JOHN F. HUSKE ~ Class of 1958

John F. Huske, of Benton City, WA, passed away unexpectedly at home on November 7, 2010. He was born in Ronan, MT to Theodore and Marvel (Tierney) Huske on November 22, 1939.
John came with his family to Richland in 1943. He attended Marcus Whitman Elementary School, Carmichael Junior High and graduated from Columbia High School in June of 1958.
Shortly thereafter John joined the Army and served his country nobly. Few people knew John was a decorated war veteran. In 1965, he saved a soldier trapped in an enlisted men’s hotel which was blown up by the Viet Cong during the Viet Nam conflict. For his valor, Army Specialist Fifth Class John F. Huske was awarded the Silver Star by the President of the United States. John continuedto serve his country, transferring to the Air Force and retiring after 20 years of combined service.
In 1962 John married Livia E. Michalski. They had one son, Rodger John Huske. In 1993, John married Kristi (Kritter) Burnett. John, and Kritter Huske, own The Palm in Benton City, WA where John has made many friends over the years.
John is survived by his wife, Kritter and his son, Rodger, each of Benton City; his mother, Marvel, and his brother Rich ('61) (Bev) all of Richland; brother Verne ('56) (Phyllis) of Toledo, OR; brother Michael ('64) (Carol) of Olympia, WA.
Other survivors include daughter-in-law, Genia Huske and granddaughters Nicole and Allison, and great-grandson, Theodore John, all of Kennewick and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 10, 2010, 4pm to 8pm at Einan's Funeral Home, 915 Bypass Hwy., Richland, WA. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, November 14th at 2pm at the American Legion Hall in Benton City, WA.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Legion, the VFW, or Wounded Warriors through Einan's Funeral Home.
