MICHAEL G. HARRIS of Pound Ridge, NY, 64, passed away on December 27, 2010 was the true definition of a gentleman. His humor, devotion and dedication to his family was extraordinary.

Mike was survived by and truly devoted to his wife, Louise, his children, Michael, David, Robert, Raymond, Sarah and Julia, ten grandchildren, four sisters, brother and numerous nieces and nephews.

An amateur radio operator at age fifteen, Mike was Extra Class Call W1MH.

He left home in Richland, WA to work on the Alaskan DEW Line, served in the U.S. Army on the USS Corpus Christi Bay in Vietnam, was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service in March 1970. Mike had a 30 yr career in the telecommunications and cable television industries, working for Teleprompter Corporation, then Century Communications as Senior VP of Engineering, managing 72 cable systems across the US and Puerto Rico. In 1999, Mike was employed by Citizens/Frontier Communications as Sr. VP of Engineering and Chief Technology Officer.

Recently, he formed his own business, Harris Communications Consulting. Mike served on the Board of Trustees of The Long Ridge School for many years. He ran the Annual Corvette Raffle there for 8 years, as well as the Camp and Building Committees. He also was involved as an Epilepsy Advocate, fundraised for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Americares and Open Door Shelter in Norwalk. Mike received his electronic engineering degree from Columbia Basin College, was a member of the Society of Cable Television Engineers; the Society of Cable Television Pioneers; "Loyal Order of the 704 Society". He was a licensed FCC 2nd Class Commercial Radio Telegraph Operator and had an FCC General Radio Telephone license.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mike's memory to "The Long Ridge School" 478 Erskine Rd. Stamford, CT 06903.
