GERALD L. "JERRY" AUGIER ~ Class of 1957
November 27, 1939 - February 21, 2011
Jerry was born November 27, 1939 in Akron, Ohio; he died February 21, 2011, at his home in Colima, Mexico.
Jerry is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth (Jack) Williams, son David L. Augier, grandchildren Jessica Augier and David Augier, Jr., and sister Jacqueline (Ralph) Lobsinger.
Jerry graduated from Columbia High School in 1957, and received his M.A. in Architecture from the University of Washington. He developed a successful architectural partnership in Richland with friend and colleague, Robert Ohashi, later expanding the business to Spokane.
Jerry was most proud of his design projects that benefited youth and seniors, including his work for the Juvenile Justice Center in Kennewick, and Keewaydin Plaza, the 7-story complex designed for seniors and disabled residents, also in Kennewick.
Jerry retired to his dream home in Colima, Mexico, a labor of love with his wife, Lona (Phipps) Augier, where they were actively involved in A.R.A., the animal rights group in Mexico. Lona preceded Jerry in death on August 17, 2009; friends and family memorialized their lives in a joint ceremony in Mexico on March 5, 2011.
Jerry will be greatly missed by his family and many friends; his time with us was much too short. We will commemorate Jerry and celebrate the life he shared with all of those who knew him in a gathering in Columbia Park, planned for this spring.
