Gary Victor Wilgus, born January 27, 1939 passed away peacefully on June 25, 2012 at Providence Medical Center in Everett, WA at the age of 73.
Born in Fort Scott, Kansas to Victor and Hazel Wilgus, the family settled in Richland in 1949.
Gary was a graduate of Columbia High School, Washington State University (B.S.), and the University of Oklahoma (M.S /Meteorology). He was a weather forecaster in the US Air Force and Air National Guard and his combined 22 years of proud military service included work on the NASA Apollo missions. Gary worked in sales for Scientific Products and Waste Management Inc. before running his own successful environmental consulting company.
An avid outdoorsman, Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating which he shared with his children, creating lasting memories. He loved animals, especially dogs, which accompanied him throughout his life.
Gary is survived by his three sons; John (Lourdes), Mark (Robin), Michael (Julie); grandchildren, Margaret, Luke, and Kayla; sister, Janet Wilgus Beaulieau ('59), brother-in-law Tom Beaulieau ('59); niece Amy, nephew Greg and long-time companion Diane Janisko.
A natural storyteller with a big presence, Gary was well-loved and will be greatly missed by many. He lived his life fully and left with few regrets.
A celebration of his life will be held from 5-7:30 p.m. on July 13th, 2012 at the Lake Forest Park Civic Club located at 17301 Beach Drive, N.E. in Lake Forest Park, WA.
