Paul Jerarde Knutson, age 71, left this world on Tuesday, November 20, 2012. Paul was born October 20, 1941, in Bowman, ND, to Palmer and Lucille Knutson. The family moved to the Tri-Cities in 1943. Paul first attended Bethlehem Lutheran School, Kennewick, Jefferson Grade School, Chief Jo Jr. High, and graduated from Columbia High School in 1959. He attended Columbia Basin Community College for 1 year before joining the U.S. Navy.
Paul served the Navy for 21 years as a Naval Corpsman for the Marines. He served his country in Vietnam, and was on many aircraft carriers. He received a degree in public medicine while in the service. Paul retired in 1979.
He married Lois J. Denny on October 29, 1966. They had 2 daughters, Kori Jean and Erika Leigh. They resided in Spokane, WA. Paul furthered his education while living in Spokane. He received an associate's degree in Arts in 1984 from Spokane Falls Community College. He also graduated from Eastern Washington University with a Bachelors of Science in 1986.
Paul married Nancy Stull Jewel on March 9, 2000. They resided in Richland.
Paul is survived by his wife Nancy Stull Jewell ('59); mother Lucille, sister Roxanne ('62), daughter Erika (John) Breen, granddaughter Margot A. Williams, 2 nieces, numerous cousins, and friends.
Paul was preceded in death by his father Palmer T. Knutson, daughter Kori J. Knutson.
Paul's best friend was art. He was an accomplished photographer, sculpture, and painter. He viewed the world from an interesting perspective. He was a dapper dresser, who had a love for hats, and was a great dancer. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten by his family, friends, and many acquaintances.
