GREGORY JAMES "GREG" DUNN ~ Class of 1960
September 22, 1942 - March 19, 2012
~
Gregory James Dunn was born September 22, 1942, to James T. E. Dunn and Natalie Mae Henry in East Cleveland, OH, and died March 19, 2012, at Kadlec Regional Medical Center of pneumonia and related causes.
He lived in Olympia before moving to Richland in 1949. He attended Richland public schools and graduated from Columbia High School in 1960. He attended the University of Washington then graduated from Drake University, Des Moines, IA, in 1964. In September 1964 he married Margaret Anne Ehrig and lived in Iowa until he was drafted into the Army in December 1965. He served 2 years in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as an instructor at Fort Belvoir, VA. Greg worked in the insurance industry in Iowa, California and Seattle, primarily as a property and casualty underwriter. In 2003 he retired from Admiral Insurance Company, Seattle, where he was a special risks manager.
Greg was very proud that both his sons were Eagle Scouts and that each was Company Commander of the Kentridge (WA) USMC Junior ROTC unit.
He moved back to Richland two years ago with his wife Margaret to enjoy the sunshine. Greg was an avid fisherman, classical music lover and enthusiastic stamp collector. Every year it was his big dream that this would be the year that his Cleveland Indians would make it to the World Series again!
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Ehrig Dunn ('61); sons Charles (Jessica) and James; sister Gayle Dunn Sutton and brother-in-law Max Sutton ('57); one granddaughter, Kjersten; and nieces and nephews.
The family wants to thank Kadlec Regional Medical Center, Life Care of Richland and DaVita Dialysis of Richland for their loving care during the past four months.
A memorial service will be held May 5, 2012, at Central United Protestant Church at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ehrig-Dunn Scholarship Fund, Grinnell College, Grinnell, IA 50112.
