Patrick Mageehon - 1960

Patrick Mageehon - September, 2000
Patrick N. Mageehon – The Gadget Man

We woke up that morning, opened the windows and heard a meadowlark sing its song. We smiled, it was such a pretty song and we hadn't heard one in such a long time this summer.

Patrick was born in Portland, OR on April 1, 1942 to Vera and Oliver Mageehon and passed away, too soon for his family on August 19, 2012.

Pat and his family lived in the Portland area, when he was two they moved to Richland. Upon graduation from high school he continued with college classes. He then joined the United States Army, travels included France, Germany and Korea.

Pat began his career as an electrician and a union steward in the nuclear field on the outer Hanford area. When the doors opened for him at Jersey he started work there, which after many name changes Jersey became Areva where Pat retired as an engineering assistant.

Pat took great delight in the simple treasure of life, the new growth of a tree planted, or a new bloom on a flower. He loved being in nature, camping, hiking, fishing, keeping a good camp fire going. He was always working on his gadgets, creating one of his own projects or modifying something to make it work better. Pat had a vast knowledge of many things. He was always there to help when friends and family would call on him. Pat was always looking at the weather and on ways he could harness these elements to provide power, not only for others but his family. He had a fascination with lightning. We watched many lightning storms over the years. Tuesday night when we had the lightning storm the grandkids said that was Grandpa Pat up there playing with the lightning and putting on a show for us.

Patrick is survived by his wife and soul mate, Carol; children, Tricia, Sheila, Donna, Terri, Rikki, son-in-laws, Scott and Dan; many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. All who think he was the best! He loved the children, the laughter and fun of being with them.

Patrick is deeply missed beyond words by all his family and friends. We wish we could bring you home but I guess it was time for you to begin another journey. I love you Patrick and miss you so much. You will always be with me in my heart and soul and the memories of all the good times we had together. I love you, Carol.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 24, 2012 at 1:00pm at Einan's Funeral Home in Richland.

Donations may be made to Kadlec Regional Medical Center Hospital in Temperance of Patrick Mageehon.
