Willie West - recent

William Lea West resident of Anitoch, CA, passed away peacefully at home on June 11, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Alameda, CA and grew up in Richland. He graduated from Columbia High School in 1975 and CBC.

Willie was a resident of Antioch for 10 years and was serving bravely as a member of the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District when he was diagnosed with the disease. He proudly served the communities of the east bay for more than 20 years in various public safety roles including EMT and Firefighter, beginning in 1989 as a Firefighter with Lockheed Missile and Space. He was fulfilling a lifelong dream by following in his father's footsteps to be a Firefighter.

He enjoyed riding his Harley, jet skiing, and show skiing. With a big grin on his face and laughter in his blue eyes, he welcomed everyone he met.

Willie is survived by Jennifer and Carmen Piper. He is also survived by his father Royal (Patty) West ('49); his sisters Sandie (Marco) Aguirre and Bonnie (Steve) Showalter ('81) all of Richland, WA and his brother Robert ('93) (Sharon) West of Braintree, MA; uncle Lloyd ('63) (Betty) West; Nieces Jessica, Bonnie, and Miranda; great nieces Leilani, Matty, and Grace.

Willie was preceded in death by his mother Dorral Lea West.

All friends and family are welcome to come memorialize and celebrate a man whose life brought brightness and love to all that knew him. Visitation was held daily until June 18th at Brentwood Funeral Homet in Brentwood. A full honors funeral was scheduled for June 19, 2012 at Golden Hills Community Church in Brentwood with a reception that followed.
