Clead was born October 22, 1934 in Logan, UT, to George Leavitt Karren and Ruth Doul Benson Karren and passed away Saturday, May 18, 2013. He was 78.
He was raised in Richland and graduated from Columbia High School in 1954. He then attended one year at the University of Idaho. Then he went into the Army and served in Germany for 2 years as a clerical clerk. He came back and served a mission to the Western States for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for 2 years in Colorado. He then headed to Brigham Young University in October of 1962. There he met and dated Kaylene Huffaker. They married in Mesa, AZ and were sealed for time and eternity in the Arizona Temple in June of 1963.
He graduated from BYU in 1965 with a bachelor’s degree in design engineering and they were relocated to Issaquah, WA with Boeing in 1966. Later he went into Medical Sales.
Clead served in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a Ward Clerk, Missionary Leader, 1st & 2nd Counselor in Bishoprics and activity leader. He loved people and serving the Lord and most of all his lovely family. In 2003 – 2005 he and his wife, Kaylene served a Senior Couple Mission in Auckland, New Zealand. What a great and wonderful experience they had together.
He restored Mustang cars with his sons, Tim and Clint and grandson, Jason. Clead taught the rest of his grandsons what was under the hood and how to take care of and maintain cars. Golf was always his love and tennis his next love and all sports, baseball and etc. Fore! Clead will be remembered as an effervescent guy, high spirited and loved by all. He loved his wife, family, work and serving others.
Clead was preceded in death by his parents, George Leavitt Karren and Ruth Doul Benson Karren, and siblings: Nolan Benson, Ned Leavitt, and Joyce.
Survivors include his dear wife, Kaylene; children: Cindy, Karlene, Lisa, Denise, Tim and Clint; grandchildren: Jason, Tawni, Janelle, Conner, Brevin, Tyler, Caden, Ella, Jack, Lindsey, Blake, Ayden and one granddaughter on her way. June 28, 2013, there will be a total of 13 grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Maxine and LaVere.
A funeral service will be held 10am, Friday, May 31st at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Issaquah. A committal service will follow at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent.
Beloved husband, dad and grandpa, he will be missed by us all.
