BARBARA KAY DAVIS SANDALL ~ Class of 1961
June 6, 1943 - August 12, 2013
~
Barbara Kay Davis Sandall, of West Richland, went to rest on August 12, 2013, due to complications from numerous strokes. She was surrounded by all her loved ones at her bedside at Kadlec Medical Regional Center. She was born on June 6, 1943, in Amarillo, TX.
She lived in Richland for most of her life and graduated from Columbia High School in 1961. She married her High School Sweetheart, the love of her life, Gary W. Sandall. They married in Lewiston, ID, on April 28, 1961, and recently celebrated their 53rd Anniversary together.
She worked at Hanford for a number of contractors throughout her 30+ year career as a Senior Q.A. Engineer and an ASME Certified Lead Auditor. She retired in 2005.
Barbara was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend to all who knew her. She was a woman with high principles, morals, and values all of which she passed along to her children. She had style and taste that was impeccable.
She and Gary will always treasure the fond memories they shared traveling to New York City, Costa Rica, Bahamas, Mexico, and Alaska. Most memorable was when her entire family went to Puerto Vallarta... as usual, a good time was had by all. Another favorite place was Sitka, AK, where she'd tell stories of how beautiful it was, often calling it "God's Country." Her most favorite place to travel was to the Oregon Coast. She would call herself a "river-rat" while enjoying boating and sunbathing on the Columbia River. Barbara's favorite hobby was cooking for her family and she was an excellent cook. All her recipes were delectable and enjoyed by many, which brought her great joy.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Helen M. and H.L. "Dave" Davis, and brother-in-law Robert D. Sandall.
She is survived by her husband, Gary ('60), brother, Craig (Pat), her two sons: Troy and Darek (Ellen), her daughter, Dana (Gary), and four beautiful grandchildren: Cody, Kyle, Airielle, and Karlee.
Barbara and Gary were fortunate enough to be adopted by their loving cat, Millie, and Millie brought love and joy to their lives for the past 17 years.
At Barbara's request, there will be no funeral service. There will be a celebration of Life with close family members at a later date.
