CHARLES EDWARD "CHARLIE" GANT ~ Class of 1953

Charlie, age 79, passed away July 18, 2014, at Hospice House in Kennewick. He was born to Charles E. Gant, Sr. and Louise E. Banwell Gant on July 3, 1935, in Salem, NJ and had lived in the Tri-Cities 70 years.
He was a railroad employee for more than 52 years. As a youth he was a talented athlete playing for Richland's Columbia High School three of the major sports of the day, football, basketball and baseball, starring in each. His passion for most of his adult life was playing golf. He will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends, all of whom loved him very much.
Charles was preceded in death by his father Charles Gant, Sr., his mother, Louise Gant and his ex-wife, Lajuana Bridges.
He is survived by his son Scott Gant; his step daughter Teresa (Bob) Shellum; his granddaughter Angela (Nick) Miller; his two great-grandchildren: Madelyn and Jase; his brother, Phil ('54) (Patti) Gant: and the love of his life, Norma Loescher Boswell ('53).
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, September 4, 2014, (the day before Club 40) at 3pm at Events at Sunset, 915 Bypass Highway, Richland, WA. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Angels of Mercy Fund, c/o Christ the King Catholic Church, 1125 Long Ave, Richland, WA 99352.
