MARCIA RAE SHORT DEAN ~ Class of 1963
August 7, 1945 - September 17, 2014

Marcia of Kiona passed peacefully with her family by her side on September 17, 2014. She was born to Morris and Genevieve Short on August 7, 1945.

She was a retired bus driver for the Richland School District, where she worked for 25 years. She remained lifetime friends with many of the students who rode her bus.

She had a strong passion and love for NASCAR, so much so that she became an administrator for Dale Earnhardt Junior & Intimidator Reality Fans Facebook page, which led to friendships nationwide. Many memories were created with Marcia on the farm, from racing trucks and four-wheelers in the mud, to riding horses, and playing with the many animals which Marcia loved so much.

Anytime people were around Marcia, they knew they would be in for a laugh. The moment her contagious laugh broke out, the entire room followed in suit. She had a big heart and touched the lives of everyone around her.

Marcia was preceded in death by her much loved mother and father, loving sister Norma ('53), and her favorite son-in-law, Grady.

Marcia is survived by her husband, Carl "Butch" Dean ('64), her two children, Brenda Dean Wilkerson ('82) and James Dean ('86), ten grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren, along with a large extended family and many many friends.

Marcia requested not to have a formal service. The family will organize a celebration of life at a future date and will send invitations to family and friends.
