Bob Meakins ~ recent

Bob, age 78, passed away peacefully at his home in Casa Grande, Arizona, on July 11, 2015. He was born in Longmont, Colorado, as an only child to John and Doris Meakins.

Bob grew up in Richland where he graduated from Columbia High School in 1954 before attending Cornish College in Seattle for two years. He worked in route sales for 30 years at Maryatt Industries and Gais Bakery in Seattle. He served as a Cub Scout leader, Co-President of PTA and was involved in sports activities for all three of his children. He also served in the National Guard for 10 years in Seattle.

Bob and Joyce retired and traveled full-time in their RV to sight see the United States for seven years. He enjoyed many activities: camping with family, fishing, hunting, golf, bowling and country swing dancing. He was a member of CG Valley Elks Lodge #1957.

Bob was a loving, supportive husband, father, grandfather and great-grandpa. He was a pillar of strength for our family, our mentor with unconditional love and caring and he will be cherished always in our hearts.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and Hayden R. Meakins, a great-grandbaby.

He leaves his beloved wife of 58+ years, Joyce; children: Rob (Lynna), Scott (Rondi), and Sheryl Davis (Michael); grandchildren: Scott E. (Jaime), Michelle (Bob), Eric R. (Renate), Kyle W., Kellie (Brandon), and Katelynn(Camden); great-grandchildren: Ian, Bryan, Trinity and Declan.

Our family would like to thank Dr. D. Brown, Cheryl, Linda and Tim of Harmony Hospice for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bob’s name to Harmony Hospice, 201 E. Cottonwood, Suite 3, Casa Grande, AZ.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held in early October, details will follow as arrangements are made.

Those we love don’t go away,
They walk beside us everyday
Unseen, unheard but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear.
