Iva, age 81, passed away with her family by her side on May 2, 2016, at Richland’s Kadlec Regional Medical Center. She was born in St. Joe, Arkansas, on September 11, 1934, to Maynard and Clearsie Edens.
Her early years were spent in Arkansas until the family moved to Richland in 1944 for her father to work at Hanford. Her schooling, life, and career were spent in Richland. She was employed by General Electric, Battelle, and Exxon Nuclear in various capacities and retired in management. She played community softball until well into her 40s and was an avid sports fan (“GO HAWKS”).
Favorite activities were focused on enjoying time with her grandchildren, singing in the church choir, maintaining long-distance relationships with close friends and family, reading, jigsaw puzzles, and travel in later years with husband Bill Douglas in “Charity” (the motorhome) and wintering in Yuma, AZ.
Iva is preceded in death by her infant son Jay Eric Fravala, her husband Bill Douglas, her parents Maynard and Clearsie Edens, her brother, Reuben "Rube" Edens ('56-RIP), Rube's wife, Barbara Mae PIERCE Edens ('56-RIP), and her brother-in-law, Noah Lee Wilkerson, Sr.
Iva is survived by her daughter Anita Fravala Griffin ('73)(Jim); grandchildren Tracy and Kevin (Laura); siblings Deana Edens Brown ('56)(Don), Johnie Edens ('57)(Bonnie), and Ruth Edens Dollar ('72)(Dave).
Visitation was held at Einan’s Event Center on May 8, 2016. A memorial service was held May 9, 2016 at Richland Baptist Church on George Washington Way.
