Ron Crawford, 75, died April 30, 2016, at the Ray Hickey Hospice House in Vancouver, WA surrounded by family and old friends. He had been suffering from Lewy Body Dementia associated with Parkinson's Disease.
Ron was born in Kalispell, Montana, on June 27, 1940. When he was three, his parents moved to Richland where his father worked at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation. Ron attended Sacajawea Elementary School, Chief Joseph Jr. High and graduated from Richland's Columbia High School in 1959.
After a year of college, Ron joined the Army. He spent three years in Albuquerque, New Mexico, before going to Berlin, Germany, for an additional three years. His time in Europe was a highlight of his life and was the beginning of a life-long love of travel.
After discharge from the Army, Ron moved to Portland, Oregon, where he worked for several years as a Respiratory Therapist. His true vocation was Real Estate, at which he worked until he retired when he was 70. He also had a number of rentals. Crawford's Christmas Trees was a business Ron and his sons nurtured over 25 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eldon and Lita Crawford.
Ron is survived by his wife of 43 years Lynn; four sons Ian (Jamie), Kyle, Sean, and Brendan; five grandchildren who he unabashedly adored; his sister Barbara ('55); her children and grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life was held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens on May 14, 2016.
Family requests that donations be made to the Ray Hickey House or to "There is always HOPE Dementia Support Group" (thereisalwaysHOPEinfo@gmail.com) in lieu of flowers.
Evergreen Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel, Vancouver, WA was in charge of arrangements.
