To: All who were commenting on Ganzel's Barber Shop
Check out the following article on pages 6 & 7 of the June 2006
"Reactor Magazine" for some great Pics of the old shop & Otis.
http://www.reactormag.com/pdfs/issue13_reactor_june2006.pdf
I think there is a slight omission in the article in that it
states that Ganzel started in Hanford and moved directly to the
Greenway. Other sources indicate that, at some time, he ran a
smaller shop in the Dyer Bldg. (now Allied Arts) and I always
assumed he was waiting for the shop on the Greenway to be
completed. Maybe he was waiting for the shop in Hanford to
be completed or, then again, he may never have been there.

Re: Protein Drinks
Tami SCHUCHART Keller ('68) had sent me samples from Amway, and
they are good, but they are too high in sodium and I have to
limit my sodium intake, so I won't be able to use those. My son-
in-law suggested I go to GNC and ask them about protein drinks...
they had a whey powder protein drink that actually tastes good,
is low in calories and sodium... it has 60 grams of protein per
3 scoops of powder and I mixed it in 12 oz of low-fat milk.(can
also use water)... I bought two cans... one of chocolate (which
tastes just like Nestle's Quick... yum) and one of cookies 'n
cream. I can get 13 glasses per can, so I figure for the 6 weeks
of radiation, I will only have to buy 3 cans... and, since each
glass contains 60 grams, I will only have to drink two glasses
per day to get my 80 grams of protein.

Re: I can't wait
This is just too cool... Can't wait for R2K+10!!!!!!!! Wow... a
meeting in the Home Ec. room after hours... dang it sounds like a
ton of fun... more fun than the janitor's closet I am sure... woo
hoo... all that baking and sewing stuff to play with... and "dry
parking"... oh man... the mind reels and the thought... so is it
June yet??????? I have my reservation and HEIDLEBAUGH'S ('65)
too... yes kids... the Jimster is gonna make it... I think it was
R2K when we got our Razors at one of the shops in Kennewick...
when they were still full price, before you could buy them for
$5.99 just about anyplace... we had a ball... Jimmy went flying
down a hill as we were "helping" with set up (actually just kinda
following Ms. HOFF ('64) like a couple of lost puppies... "pant
pant pant")... I heard a crash... we should never have been
allowed to purchase those scooters and I am still planning to
bring a Class Action on behalf of all those similarly situated...
we just haven't been able to find any other plaintiffs as dumb as
we are... so the similarly situated part may have to be bagged
and just Jimmy and I will sue... I just can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: V House (3 bedroom pre cut)
http://hanford.houses.tripod.com/houses/v.html
We lived in a V/Precut on the corner of Wilson & Thayer. But the
lay out was flipped from the one that was shown in yesterdays
list. So did some of the house's have two layout?
[Somebody can tell us how many letter houses have
reverse floor plans. "H" has reverse plans. -Maren]
Mom & Dad remodeled it in the early '60s. They added off the back
of the house, a kitchen & laundry room. Then a covered patio. The
old bus lot use to sit right behind our house, until they tore it
down in the mid to late '50s, then later a HUGE Mormon church was
built there. I remember all the neighbor hood kids playing in the
church as it was being built!
At any rate was just wondering if anyone knew if the houses had
2 or more layouts.

Picture #2
Here are a couple of pictures taken on a brisk morning in January
at sunrise. It only lasted a few minutes, just long enough to
snap a couple of pictures before it got cloudy.
