and any other Bomber families who are facing or have loved
ones facing serious health issues
If you have lots of people who need/want updates, I can't say
enough (again) about www.caringbridge.org where you can set up
a site and just leave a journal entry (and/or pictures) for
your updates. Everyone that you wish can have access and leave
messages. It was invaluable when my sister, Patricia ('63), was
going thru cancer treatment. (She is doing great now, by the
way!)

Re: Otis at Sheeran's Thanksgiving - Circa 1960
http://AlumniSandstorm.com/htm2010/Xtra/Any/100111-She-Otis.jpg
Some MAY recognize my brothers Mike ('66) &/or Pat ('48-RIP),
My Dad, Clem (RIP), sister, Kate ('61) and/or My Mom, Helen (RIP)
- and Otis - from the Barber Shop, whom Dad would have for
dinner, I THINK now - to show us there were other colors of
people in the world... I think we younger kids just stared a lot,
but I remember him being so kind.
Picture was taken in our dining room on Long, where niece, Sarah
Palin (and others) drove by this last Thanksgiving Holiday... and
took a picture from the outside... and I wondered how we got so
many people in that small house (though it seemed quite adequate
back then).

http://r2k99352.tripod.com/index10.html
The R2K+10 web site is up and running thanks to John ADKINS ('62)
and Burt PIERARD ('59). The activities are there along with the
registration form for all to use. Get them in early.
Again to remind everyone who is interested the meeting for the
committee for R2K +10 will be the 13th at 6:30 at the Home Ec
room next to the cafeteria. Again it would be nice to have a
representative from every class.

Re: Earthquake
Ok... I truly was hoping that we would get away without being in
a large earthquake. Only 2-3 more years before Frank retires and
we can move back up to WA. Well, it didn't happen! For those of
you who have never been in one, it's really scary. Actually, not
during, but when it starts in. You hold your breath and you can
feel your heart starting to beat faster and faster. I'm always
relieved when the shaking quits with these small ones that we
get. BUT, yesterday, it DIDN'T quit shaking. Just got worse and
worse. 6.5 mag. they said. Fortunately, it was out in the ocean
so not as bad as it would have been at the same degree if it were
on land. All is well, house ok and we are ok. Lost some stuff, of
course, but could have been lots worse.

Re: Big Kids
The big kid birthdays are starting out fast... At '63's 45th
reunion, Jimbeaux ('63) called the birthday boy by his email
name... didn't even hafta look up just heard his voice... course
his email name is just his name so maybe Jimbeaux isn't quite the
Oracle he wants us little kids to think he is... well I just
checked... guess it wasn't his email address cuz there are some
extra numbers in there so never mind... as usual, just ignore
everything so far... Anyway, hope to see Mr. Birthday at R2K+10
with his bike and helmet... racin down the dike... so HAPPY
BIRTHDAY Earl Bennett ('63) on January 12, 2010!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Harlan Foote ('62)
This morning (1/10) I am flying out of Boise to be in Richland to
care for my dearest friend (and also ex-husband), who is deeply
loved by the whole family he acquired when he & I got married. He
has no blood relatives, but is at the heart and soul of our
extended family.
He was diagnosed 10 days ago with prostate cancer, which has
apparently been with him for a while, as there is extensive
metastasis to his bones. We anticipate that he will only be
living in his quickly deteriorating body for a matter of weeks --
and I will be with him to the end. We will be involving Hospice
within the next couple of days.
My ex-husband, Brad Peterson ('67), has been a great help
already, and is in fact picking me up at the airport today in
Pasco. My husband, Thomas Peashka ('68) will be driving up later
this week to help.
Harlan is a brilliant man, and the most loving, generous human
being I have ever known. We don't want him to move on (for our
sakes), but are so blessed to have him in our lives and our
hearts forever.
For any of you who want updates, please DO NOT CALL Harlan's
number. Please e-mail me, and I will put you on the e-mail list
to keep you apprised as to how things are going.
[Lynn-Marie, Please read the entry from Missy KEENEY ('59)
about caringbridge.org for help keeping everyone informed
with updates. -Maren]
If you want to see Harlan, please e-mail me with your phone
number, and I will give you a call to arrange a time. I would
suggest you think about sooner rather than later.
He is not afraid -- he looks forward to being back on the other
side -- but, having been a big-time hiker and mountain biker,
he's not too crazy about the immobility that the dying process is
fast imposing on him. I promise to keep him out of pain, though
-- so he's not worried about that ... or about being alone.
Please pray for me & our family -- for strength and grace and
wisdom for the weeks ahead. And please pray for Harlan.
Thank you
Lynn-Marie Hatcher Peashka ('68)
PS - This all came as such a shock, and is moving so quickly.
There has been no time for Harlan to get repairs done on the
house, stuff sorted through, etc. So I am going to need more
help, especially after Harlan moves on, and I have that house
full of entropy (he is a physicist after all) to clean up,
sort through, etc. So I certainly will be happy to accept any
Bomber help, and referrals to handymen, etc, for repairs,
re-carpeting... the list is long!
PPS - Looking for good home for his adult spayed female Boston
Terrier and adult neutered male Ocicat.
