Maren, can you include Pastor Palmer Getty in the caring bridge
entry. He was the long time pastor at Richland Lutheran.

Re: Bombers Remember Mark STAPLES ('82-RIP)

My son, Randal Southam ('82), had a group of Bombers over to
his house on Friday night. These wonderful people came in to
celebrate the life of Mark STAPLES ('82-RIP) at a Memorial
service on Saturday. This picture was taken Friday night - what
a wonderful experience hearing all these Bombers laughing and
remembering. A sad way to bring people together but a good
reminder that we should stay close.

Re: Wife's cancer (RIP) and Natural Foods
Thank you for your post. I have always known that there was
something about kick backs to doctors. You confirmed it. Couple
of years back a young doctor not long out of school was trying to
put me on every medication he could. I was new as a patient of
his. I wouldn't buy into it... suspected he might be one of
those. Switched doctors in the same Kadlec building. She
was young and was not a doctor trying to put me on lots of
medication. Also believed in natural herbs so forth. In late
April or early May she announced she was getting out of the
Kadlec clinic and going to an independent clinic. She couldn't
tell me where. Would be walking into a full load of patients and
could not take me with her. Sad, we both cried as did all the
medical assistants. Very well liked doctor.
From there I was looking for the third doctor since I moved to
West Richland. I had the same doctor in Federal Way, WA area for
19 years. Went to my chiropractor who's children had gone to the
same doctor I went to. By this time I had been through test after
test with the female doctor for knee, shoulder and swelling
throughout my body. On a cane to walk when I could. (have made
myself walk in the house as much as I could). The chiropractor
had found out where she was going I went back to the female
doctor one more time. I told her where she was going and said
"I had more to the story" which I told her the following: She
was moving to the Three Rivers Clinic. The owner doctor, Eric
Isaacson's parents, were owner of the "C" house my parents lived
in from about 1958 - 1972 approximately. I told her that I would
go to the parents to get in to her at the clinic. We both got
a good laugh out of it. Did not happen because Ray and Evelyn
Isaacson died four months apart between May and August last
year right as I was leaving the clinic. Bomber parents of four
children. I met Eric when he was six years old.
Meanwhile I found Doctor Ayee in the senior clinic... came highly
recommended by a Bomber and a couple of other friends. Time was
fleeting and no answer. No medication would alleviate the pain.
Dr. Ayee thought finally my problem was coming from age old
chronic back problems. She sent me for an MRI. Not true, no
change there. Went to an orthopedic back doctor who had graduated
from the University of Washington and had given the epidural
shots that were developed there. I had them 15 years ago and they
had worked for my low back. They cut the pain message off from
the brain. He decided it was not my low back and that I have
Rheumatoid Arthritis. He was recommending a doctor for this.
Back in the wait game.
I broke down crying one afternoon. Quickly called to get in to
Dr. Ayee. She was not available so I went to their Physicians
Attendant the next day. She immediately sent me for a simple
blood test which confirmed I have Rheumatoid Arthritis. She has
worked with my medication which is making things much more
tolerable until I see the new doctor.
The waiting game has made me ask a lot of questions before and
since I read your post about doctors Alan. Through this nine
months I have asked for answers to something that might be
natural. The answer was confirmed today by a friend that I have
heard about but did not know for sure it applied to me until I
got the answer of what I have. The natural herb TUMERIC has been
given and done wonders for all kinds of arthritis. Even an 82
year old woman who was crippling up from age couldn't believe the
difference. The other one got off the cane as soon as she started
taking it and accomplishing more. I will be ordering the TUMERIC
in the morning from this website,
Click to go to the site
Can't wait to take it. Tumeric is a spice from India used in most
of their foods. I have also heard it is good for Altheimers (sp).
My story is long but I hope it helps others when choosing the
right doctor and medications recommended. I have wondered how
many doctors are getting kick backs? Knowing what the disease
is someone's body is half the disease. Bombers, friends and
relatives are such a great help. Above all is the internet.
I am ready to be well to accomplish all the things that I want
to. Drive, travel some and whatever each day. Not so house bound
which Bomber friends Glen ROSE ('58) and his wife Carol and my
son have helped by getting me out usually once a week. Can't
thank them enough. Nine months is enough. Hope all Bombers
battling health issues are finding good solutions.

the rain keeps coming but temperatures are keeping it

Re: ya hooooooooooooooo
Bomber-babe time and some other stuff... Chronic pain... good
topic for old people... thanks Roy ('63)... the other day I was
trying to figure out how much of my life was pain free (physical
not teen-age anguish) I think my first 21 years were pretty
good... after May 1968 it was pretty much chronic pain...
remember after I got home (wasn't gonna ask while still in
country) I checked on my neck and back... "early arthritis and
calcium build up they said about my neck... didn't even mention
my lower back... 10 years later I asked again because of some
serious pinched nerve symptoms... early arthritis and calcium
build up... then when my head rolled of my shoulders, the first
words my Doc uttered had the F word in there... but it beats the
alternative I say...
Terence Knox, aka Terry DAVIS ('65) called... after trying to get
him to do commercials for at least the last 15 years, he is doing
a Silverado commercial... says it may even air during Super bowl,
whatever that is... when I asked him what it was about, he said
"me me me me me me"... some things never change...
Got a sweet Bomber-babe birthday... I hope she is ok... last
time I was home I mentioned her as we passed the Yakima over in
West Richland and was told that she may have not been well...
I hope that info was wrong...
but in any event I do wish Treva BOLIN ('65) a HAPPY BIRTHDAY on
January 26, 2010!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

summer, and hopefully lots of other grads from other classes,
and lots of nice cars. Can't wait...

Re: Natural help
For anyone who has been told by doctors that diet and natural
methods do not help or are not proven to fight cancer, please
keep in mind that the doctors have not been able to prove that
chemo helps either. It kills both the good and bad emerging cells
in your body. A weak immune system cannot withstand that type of
miss-treatment and stay healthy.
As for diet, I would challenge anyone with a health challenge,
especially cancer, to go to the following if you can afford it.
Optimal Health Institute in Lemon Grove, CA. Stay there for four
weeks and see how you are doing after that. I saw some incredible
healing happen there. I will always believe if I could have
afforded to keep Maxine there for six months she would be with me
today. The next place is called St. George Klinic in Bad Adeline,
Germany. They are not held by US law as to the treatments they
use. Maxine and I interviewed a couple of rather wealthy women in
their seventy's who had bone cancer and went there for treatment
and told us that they were completely cured of bone cancer
by a treatment called Hyperthermia. Not sure if I spelled that
correctly. Near the end of 2002 it would have cost us about
$30,000 to go there for three weeks of treatment. We did not have
the money and by the time we raised it she was too far gone to
have the treatment. We found out about the place too late.
Another person to look up is Dr. Loraine Day. She has several
books an tapes out on how she beat breast cancer by natural
means. Maxine looked and felt as good as she did because she
was following Dr. Day's diet and was able to build up her immune
system considerably. The biggest key to fighting cancer is to
help your body become strong enough to fight the cancer for you.
It may sound strange but read a book called "Wheat Grass,
Nature's Finest Medicine" If you ever get a copy of my book you
will find listed in the back 25 references dealing with natural
health that would be of help to you.
I am not advocating you do any particular type of treatment
either standard or natural, I am only trying to let you know
there are alternatives.
