Of course, by graduation year, that would make you a Senior Bomber Babe; which I am sure the Junior Gyrene is grateful for your defense. It might also put you in the category of "cougar" (regardless of which jr. hi you went to) and would therefore be subject to his "lusts" for older women. Forewarned is four armed. -Bob Carlson, aka Mike CLOWES ('54) ~ Mount Angel, OR where the weather remains "iffy". **************************************************************** **************************************************************** >>From: Allen THOMPSON ('63) Re: Kenneth HINRICHS ('63wb-RIP) Sorry to report Ken passed away last week.Death Notice appeared in the 10/10i/14 Tri-City Herald, -Allen THOMPSON ('63) **************************************************************** **************************************************************** >>From: Dennis HAMMER ('64) To: John CAMPBELL ('63) Re: Mustang Club badge I saw that grill badge too, but it was too small on the video, and not being familiar with it, did not know what it was. My guess is that a member of the Pacific Cascade Mustang Club (PCMC) went to one of Paul Revere's concerts, saw the Mustang front of his keyboard, and sent him one. You reminded me that I have two Oldsmobile Club of America grill badges. I have them packed up and have not seen them in over 20 years. They are round with gear teeth around them. There was a stud soldered to the back which came off on the one on my '57 convertible. Luckily I did not loose it. Apparently it was a problem and some have re-soldered it. I was afraid I might get it too hot if I tried that so never did fix it or put the other one on. The next time they produced one it did not have the gear teeth all the way around, but a hole in the bottom where some teeth should be to bolt it on. I did not like the looks of that one so never bought one. Now I don't have the car any more. Hopefully I will get at least one of my other Oldsmobiles fixed up and be able to use them again. -Dennis HAMMER ('64) **************************************************************** **************************************************************** >>From: David RIVERS ('65) Re: ah the good ol' dayz I must say I was much pleased at the send-off the Bombers gave ol' Paul Revere... Hey I know it wasn't always "great" music, but it was always "fun" music... Kicks is said to have been the first anti-drug song... not sure if it is true... specially considering the way Mark left the band... my favorite, I only heard on KISN and when I tried to find the version they played on an Album... couldn't find it... same words... way different rendition... was "Louie Go Home"... I hated to see Mark go and hated even more to see him go out on his own... seems most guys who have done that... even tho they "were" the sound of whatever group... they often just disappeared... David Clayton Thomas, Barry McQuire and Burton Cummings to name a few... I'm sure someone will tell me I'm wrong about them but that's how I felt at the time... funny how a sound can be recreated at least well enuff in the studio to pass... I couldn't see how Mark could be replaced, but he was handily... but for me to have said Paul was wrong would be like saying what will Clapton and Bruce do without Ginger... quite nicely I'd say... tho Ginger is still my all time favorite drummer (don't anybody tell Sandy Nelson... could get me in hot water round here)... I must say that music was always my first "love" even before Babes and cars... I guess it was mostly timing... I could dig rock n roll and surf with my little short wave radio before I could drive or... uh... uh... well, anyway... it's funny I never noticed what car Paul had in front of his organ... tho I do remember the mustang (and I'm sure, Mr. HAMMER ('64), I would have noticed a @ ^%^@!#@^ Rambler Metropolitan)... in the early days they didn't have much at all till they hit "where the action is"... they used to drag a huge tubular container around marked "Crisco" and Mark would jump on top of it and sing "Crisco Party" to the tune of "Hully Gully"/"Peanut Butter"... as I've mused in the past, I never did learn to play an instrument... my buddy Ed QUIGLEY ('62) has offered to teach me guitar, but I've just never had the stick to itivness... I wanna be jumpin' jack flash now and if it don't happen over night... well... I mean when Bobby Bare sang "All American Boy" I took him at his word... "I learned how ta play it inna day or two"... "buy ya a guitar and put it in tune... you'll be rockin' and a rollin' soon... "... it didn't turn out that way for me tho... but I still have my music... for me the music didn't die when the plane crashed in February, 1959... it remained alive and well till I got to Vietnam... now there is a ton of post 1967 music I just dig as much as any... but I think I changed and it changed... back when, it was all about boys n girls fallin' in love, LUV... or it was havin a party your buttocks was gonna get whipped for when the folks came home and there'd be no runnin' round with the usual crew for a week or so... I mean, man... listen to what the Shirelles did when that kid didn't show up on Friday... it was "bye bye baby"... I mean he prolly worked all day Friday to buy her a rose and a Baby Ruth and she dumps him when he shows up on Saturday... then there's the guy who can't understand why his wife left him... then we learn she's only 17... well crap, buddy... what were you thinking???????????? The other day we were talking about Tommy Sands and how he's doing these days... At least he's moved to Hawaii where his kid can look after him... but dang to go from a "Teen Age Crush" to picking old Blue Eyes for a father-in-law... Man... what were you thinking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they spell D I V O R C E "death to the career"... so anyway, after Vietnam the music was way different and no longer reminded me of slow dancing to "Theme from a Summer Place" or lying on my bed listening to "Image of a Girl" or even "Racing with the Devil"... so... I just sit back and listen to '50s on 5 and member the "good ol' dayz... "... but today is today and it is time to flash back to a Bomber-babe havin' her b-day today from that great "no-name" class of '65... HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Julie ALEXANDER ('65) on your special day, October 13, 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Re:Louie go back home https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jM6ud38-9w I found the version I liked... I guess ya hadda be there. -David RIVERS ('65) **************************************************************** **************************************************************** >>From: Lee BUSH ('68) To: Betti AVANT ('69) Re: '68 deceased classmates Michael FURNER ('68) was a fellow Class of '68 graduate. In your article, you said that Mike's death "makes 4 that I know of from that class [68] who have passed since December 2013.". For our class' website, I keep track of the '68 classmates who pass away. I only know of 3 classmates who have died in & since December, 2013. Since our 45 year class reunion, held on August 2-4, 2013, the following 5 classmates have passed away: * Oct. 13, 2013 - Jim TRUJILLO ('68-RIP) * Nov. 12, 2013 - Karen INGALSBE Greenwell ('68-RIP) * Dec. 11, 2013 - Wes GATES ('68-RIP) * Dec. 28, 2013 - Jim HALL ('68-RIP) * Oct. 02, 2014 - Mike FURNER ('68-RIP) I would appreciate you sending me the name of the 4th '68 classmate who has passed on since Dec. 2013, so I can add the classmate's name to my records. Thank you in advance! -Lee BUSH ('68) ~ West Richland PS - I remember you; and, also remember working with your brother, Bob ('69), and mother, Mary, at Richland PD! **************************************************************** **************************************************************** >>From: Shirley COLLINGS Haskins ('66) Re: Language lessons ~ 10/11/14 Tri-City Herald "Teresa DeVINE Knirck ('64) began studying Russian at Richland [Columbia] High during the Cold War. Americans were paranoid and fearful of the Eastern Bloc powerhouse. Twenty years later, she was teaching Russian at Hanford High when relations between the two nations still were frosty. But that didn't stop her from taking groups of Richland students to Moscow, St. Petersburg and Kiev between 1982 and 1995. That's truly how you learn about a culture and its language, said Knirck, who taught for more than 30 years before retiring this year. Hanford High struggled to replace Knirck when she became a guidance counselor several years ago, so she went back to teaching a few Russian courses. After she retired in June, administrators couldn't find a new teacher even though 40 students expressed interest in taking some level of Russian this year." http://AlumniSandstorm.com/Xtra/Col/141013-DeVineKnirck.jpg -Shirley COLLINGS Haskins ('66) ~ Richland **************************************************************** **************************************************************** Bomber Memorial >>Dick ROBERTSON ~ Class of 1963 ~ 1944 - 2014 Bomber Memorials **************************************************************** **************************************************************** That's it for today.
