Re: Tiny ALLEN ('48-RIP)

A sigh of hurt at Duane's passing. There are a number of pleasant
things that pass through one's life and Tiny was one of them. We
went way back.

When I was in the Army in 1946 I brought home a '26 Dodge and left
it in Richland. Almost every kid in Richoand drove the damn thing
and Tiny was one of them. One fun thing was to drive downhill on
Lee, and just as you arrived at the stadium pull the Dodge off the
road, and over that big drop, which we called "The Leap". Everyone
including the girls in the rumble seat would scream, as the car
landed at the bottome with a thud. No modern auto could take such a
jolt.

Tiny was part of a crew of kids who met at a house near the school
between Thayer and Long. They included Jackie DAVIS, Jerry WILLIS,
Bob KRAUSE, Bud Willis (Jerry's older brother) and others. They
sort of worked on old cars, and dressed the part. I believe they
were all in the Class of 1948 except Bud (NAB but a neat guy
anyway). They stood around and enjoyed themselves and their
flatulence, which they sometimes lit. They are all gone now...
sigh, and I miss them a lot.

See Ya later, Duane,

-Dick McCOY (from the Tin Can class of 1945)
