There was also this little bit of ragged poetry when the days got down to less than thirty: Twenty-nine and I'm feelin' fine, Twenty-eight and I'm out the gate, Twenty-seven and I'll be in heaven, Twenty-five and I'll come alive, Twenty-four and I'm out the door, Twenty-three and I'll be free, Twenty-two and I'll be through, Twenty-one and I'll be done, Twenty and that's plenty. -Bill SCOTT ('64) **************************************************************** **************************************************************** >>From: Tedd CADD ('66) Re: Veterans' Day To: Diane AVEDOVECH ('56) I have always understood the technical term "Veteran" to mean a member of the military who fought in a war. From your entry yesterday, it seems you hold to that definition. But the common use now is a person who was a member of the military. You could certainly have been ordered to war. We all swore to "support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic." So welcome to the ranks of the veterans of the US Military! In fact, you are much more deserving of that title than the so- called vet who was with me in the last classroom I visited. He "served" in the Army National Guard. During the class questions, every answer he gave was negative. "I was only in the guard for 6 months. So I didn't get any awards... there wasn't enough time." "Advice? Don't volunteer for anything." "Yeah, I remember the last day of my service. The sergeant tried to get me to do something I didn't want to do, so I quit." He didn't answer any questions unless I actually turned to him and asked, "What about you?" After a few of those answers, I didn't give him any more opportunities to answer. He didn't even try to answer any. He just sat there. I can't imagine why he decided to show up at an event like this. To Don Sorenson (NAB) Thanks for the story about Dick. He certainly deserves to be recognized for his part in the war effort. -Tedd CADD ('66) **************************************************************** **************************************************************** >>From: Pam EHINGER Edinger (Blue Ribbon Class of '67) Re: Veterans' Day On 11/10/14 I was lucky enough to see two of my grand daughters Ava (10 years old) and Kali (8 years old), Their classes put on a Veterans' Day Salute to All the Veterans. They had a slide show of the kids' Dads, Grandfathers, Uncles, Cousins, Brothers/Sisters that were Veterans, My Dad (Max Ehinger, Jr.) who is 87 was in the Navy was pictured with 2 of his GREAT Grand daughters!! Then they call each & every one of the Services: Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Army! (The Army had the Most Vets there!!) Then the vets walked around the gym and everyone gave them a BIG ROUND of Applause!! But I want to thank my Son, Staff Sergeant James John Walsborn for his service! He has 2 more years to retire with 20 years in the Army! My son-in-law Jim Parker was in the Army also, my nephew - in-law who is in the Army too! My brother-in-law who was in the Marines. (every family should have a Jar Head in the family!! Love Ya Ronnie!!) Thank you to ALL the Bomber Veterans for their service!!
