Re: New Email Address

Hi everyone,

I've been locked out of Yahoo since the 10th. I've gone online to
read all the Alumni Sandstorms since. I've changed my carrier. My
new email address is: OkByDick@gmail.com

All you good Bombers who want to contact me, send an email to me
and just say "Hi!" so I can get your address, such as Maren,
Sharon, AKA, etc. I have no contact list anymore and have to
rebuild. Sorry about that and thanks to all.

-Dick McCOY (from the Tin Can class of '45)

Well! On this date some time ago two people I knew and went to
school with got married. I didn't even know about it until much
later, not that that would have made any difference. Today we
honor the anniversary of a Bomber (whom I Thesped with) and a
Bomber Babe (whom I graduated with). Hope this day is memorable
for you: Treasure ELDER ('54) and Gene BARFUSS ('53). Treasure, I
hope Gene takes you to some nice place to eat instead of having
you fix dinner.

Oh, yes, there is also a Bomber birthday today. Not only his he a
fellow classmate, but we also spent time in North Richland back
in the day. I also worked with his sister, Donna ('53), at the
North Star. A tip of the ol' propeller beanie is in order along
with a hearty "Happy Birthday!" cheer for Bruce SCHOENROCK ('54)

-Bob Carlson, aka Mike CLOWES ('54) ~ Mount Angel, OR where
      98.87% of the leaves have fallen from the walnut tree;
now I hope for a strong south wind to blow them all into
      the street.

Re: Thanks to you all..

Thank you Maren! for this port to others.. to start there is good
news... my MRI showed NO cancer in my brain... Praise God!! I
want to thank you all for the prayers you sent... they gave me
a boost to get started... I do know its going to be a battle...
some remembered my brother, Gary ('57-RIP) some my sister,
Ann ('62-RIP).. letters that were about my parents... so many
who have gone through this same battle... thank you one and
all... the information you sent was what I needed to read...
I don't understand everything but I'm learning... there was a
correction in this for me... I have prayed for those who were
asking and yet I didn't let the person know... that was wrong
of me... the letters sent to me were such a blessing.. it was
awesome to know that people cared... thank you again... I have
only been through one week of chemo ...

this was good to read:

11/14/2014 Sandstorm ..Clif EDWARDS ('68) sent this to me....
"Here is the one thing a survivor told me that helped me more
than anything one other thing. He said this:

"You have cancer. Deal with the fear, rage, and all
the other emotional things; then get ready for a battle.
YOU are the most important person on your medical team.
YOU have to lead the charge, YOU have to drink all the
water, take all the drugs, puke your guts out, take all
the walks. The doctors are there to point the way; YOU
have to do everything they tell you. This disease is
now your job. All you have to do everyday now is get
      better,"
I took him seriously & did at least what the doctors
asked or multiples of what they asked me to do.
This is not the measles or flu; this will change your
life, you will never be the same. If you use it right
it can be one of the best experiences (Looking back) of
      your life.
Face each day, each test, every needle or IV as an
individual challenge and you will get through it fine.
Best of luck and the future to you. CHARGE!

Thanks Clif!

God Bless you all!

Re: Kee-Ah-Kee

On the later episodes of Lassie, when Timmy and his friend
"Porky" tried to find one another they would yodel "Kee-Ah-Kee".
When I need to find out where the Birthday Boy is I send him an
e-mail and am never surprised to find he's in China teaching
English with his distinctive German/Chickasaw/West Texas accent,
working in a Thailand orphanage or Ballin' the Jack across the US
to see some of his "Neun Enkelkinder". Don't really ever remember
not knowing him and now here we are the Last Men Standing. Not
only in this picture but I think too of Troop 38's renown Eagle
Patrol, where Rex DAVIS ('49) was our fearless Leader.

http://AlumniSandstorm.com/Xtra/Ham/141119-Last_Men_Standing.jpg

When he relocated to CONUS here a few years back, whenever he
blew thru town, we had regular, irregular meeting of the South
End Boys at the Red Hook Brewery in Woodinville. Then he fell in
love, got married and moved to Arizona. A couple of weeks back we
(the regular/irregular luncheon attendees) held our "Last
Supper", bidding him good bye for now and good fortune.

Happy Birthday to Bill "Woody" Wilson, truly one of those people
who walks the talk and makes this world a better place.

			-jimbeaux

p.s. Dave HANTHORN (NASEK) is a regular interloper, but keeps an
eye on Woody when he's in Thailand

p.s.s. Scope out those batwing cheaters on Marcia, nice accent
to her bangs.

Re: whatcha miss

When ya don't just stick outcher hand and say: "Hi, I'm David..."
I've learned that along the way... we can sure miss out on
meeting some pretty darned nice folks by just keeping to
ourselves and not "taking a chance" I know sometimes we revert
back to the time we were in school and felt shy about meeting
older kids (ooooops I mean senior class-people)... it has often
been that way for me... in many ways, having left my home town a
year after grageashun, and not having had the experience to get
to know some of these people in college or through work left
me in 1966 when I finally did return for my 20 year reunion...
people were talking about this and that, most of which I didn't
participate in because I was long gone... I'd get asked what
color was that car Joe Blow had in '77 and would have no idea...
or who did so and so marry in '68... for me time froze and I was
walking into a time warp... the b-day guy is one of those guys
I hadn't met along the way and so missed out on knowing what
WEIHERMILLER ('63) adopted me in 2000, my world expanded
greatly... what an eye opener for me... I finally got to meet
this guy and have admired him and enjoyed getting to know him...
I look forward to seeing him inna few weeks assuming I'm not
stuck on the balcony frozen from going out for one too many
cigarettes... HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Bill WILSON ('63) on your special
day, November 19, 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
