Re: 2015 Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race
  http://www.iditarod.com/ - Official Iditarod Site

I didn't realize the route these teams take right IN Anchorage.
They make their way the 11 miles from the start on 4th Street
(top/left of the picture) to the Campbell Air Strip (bottom/right
of picture):

Travel day (Sunday) -- All teams are made their way from Campbell
Air Strip to Fairbanks for the official re-START today (3/9) at
10am (AK Time) -- I think.

Re: save time...read last year's

It has come to my attention I may repeat myself a bit in my
HBs... I'm told I posted the same picture last year on Jimmie
ADAIR's ('65-'67) b-day... arrrrrrrrrrgh... it ain't that I ain't
got fifty some odd more years a stories bout him and many others
out there... I did take a 20 year hiatus from Richland after
grageashun... well, no, 19 years cuz I did go to the '66
grageashun night party while home on leave... but there's lotsa
stories before and after for the tellin'... The statute has run
on most of the stuff so I guess it would be OK... dare I risk
mentioning that I was madly in love with today's birthday Bomber-
babe all thru school and barely spoke two words to her during
the whole time? After all these years I have lost most of my
"shyness"... but back then there were some girls I just couldn't
talk to... I still don't know why... my hands would get shaky and
my knees went weak could hardly stand on my own two feet, to coin
a phrase... I vividly recall the two opportunities I blew in
Jr. High... One was at the Chief Jo Apartments at one of her
friends and I just babbled... she was wearing a white t-shirt
with a flannel shirt like a jacket over it... the other was on a
field trip and she was wearing a fuzzy Mary Lou WATKINS ('63)
type sweater... I was sitting directly next to her and Johnny
CROWDER ('65-RIP) said something that put an end to my dream...
I never even heard what he said... it was a fiasco and I think
Johnny and I hadda walk home... thankfully, she remembers none of
it... at our 20th, when I saw her I thought I was gonna fall flat
on my face... hmmmmm, well, in fact I DID fall flat on my face
several times, I'm told... what a dismal drunk I was back then...
but for the Grace of God and the Program of Alcoholics Anonymous
I still would be... thankfully that was my last drunken "hurrah"
in Richland, at least one day atta time... but I have come to
terms with missing my chances and we have become dear friends and
that includes her great husband... so today instead of wondering
what if... I spent the day going thru some boxes in storage and,
as usual, found some treasures... I found my autographed vinyl
copy of "the Last Waltz", where Martin Scorsese (try and say
that ten times inna row) filmed "the Bands" farewell from the
Winterland Ballroom with about every living Rock n Roll star
available... even Ronnie Hawkins was there... I'd say that must
have been interesting to get him to attend as I have heard he
never got over the Band's leaving Ronnie Hawkins and the Hawks...
Ronnie had at least two pretty darned big hits... "Mary Lou"
which I added to my post on ML's last b-day and "Forty Days", a
cover of Chuck Berry's "30 days"... many confuse him with his
cousin Dale, who wrote and made the first version of "Suzie Q"...
I watched portions of the film a "few days" back (which
probably equates to 1952) and it was so funny to see Robbie and
the boyz looking so danged young... but then... I guess we were
all much younger once... but there is one babe who has only
changed for the better... HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Pam PANTHER ('65) on
your special day, March 9, 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
