Re: Iditarod

I recently read an article about a blind dog helping musher Kelly
Maixner. His dog is a 50 lb sled dog named Laura and is mostly
blind, but will run any position in the sled race except the lead
and helped cross the Iditarod finish line. You may already know
about this but I thought it was pretty remarkable, even though he
scratched from the competition late in the race.

[Had not heard this. Interesting. Kelly is #9 this year
and is currently out of Huslia. I'll add him to my list
      of "watching". -Maren]

Re: Retirement

So today is my first day of retiring again!! I retired 3 years ago
after 40 years in retail to my place at the Oregon Coast and found
myself working again soon after. I have been doing housekeeping at
a resort and really loved it! It has been hard work and it has been
taking a toll on my body, and I realizes that I will be 70 this
year!!... hard to believe...

Now I am going into business with my daughter in Lincoln City, OR
and we are starting a clothing resale store. My son thinks I'm
nuts, but I enjoy being busy... and excited to be part of this new
venture.

Maybe I really will retire in a few years, and travel more. Paris
is on my bucket list! *LOL*

Re: Lance Mackey Update Re: brother Jason

Lance is "...cuttin' the cord... he's gotta go... It was an easy
decision. He didn't hesitate to change his game plan to try to come
help me... he's been a great help bootying... I'm never gonna feel
good about this if he could have done better and didn't because of
me. He's goin' and I'm stayin' [in Huslia]... Oh, I'll make it [to
Nome}... I might be a month behind him, but I'll make it."

In Tanana they were #62/#63
In Galena (24 hours later): #22/#23
today out of Huslia (24 hours later): Jason is #24 and Lance is @30
