Lovely day (11:15am here). The weather for our entire tip, so far, has been just beautiful! 92°, yesterday at this time, but 73° now. Perfect! Pascal sits across the small table writing on his laptop. He is an actor, comedian and writer. We will go to his one man show this evening although "some" of us won't understand much of it. A girl friend of granddaughter, Jordan, has joined us from the south of France and she does French fairly well. They are having a great time together renewing friendship from early grade school through Hanford High. Go Falcons! This row-house is interesting: about 22 ft x 28 ft but 4 stories. Yesterday we went to the Louvre. We didn't get to see the parts that were of greatest interest to me, the Americas. I brought 3 pair of shoes and they all are killing my feet and I have not been able to find a pair to buy. I have seen similar exhibits before at other Museums. Mostly naked men and women but also, for example--drinking cups made from Jade, etc. I can't imagine the patience and steady hand such a creation would require! We may go back today. The 3 girls are all still sleeping. We have been pushing ourselves to see and do everything possible. Last evening after the Louvre, we had dessert near-by, then opted for a Taxi home, instead of public transit. Well worth the $15, especially because I had envisioned twice that amount. By that time I was wearing Janet's flip flops. Public transit, by the way, is phenomenal both here and in London. I've never tried New York's so can't compare, but probably the same. Yesterday while we walked along the Champs Elysees, (sp?) fighter planes flew over head. Then more of them... then a big plane, then more fighters. Janet texted Pascal to see if something untoward was going on but he said it was probably practice for an upcoming military holiday. Out of context, but the Seine is much cleaner than the Thames. We found a carrousel to ride after the Eiffel tower and before the Arche de Triumph. Playfully fun... and it got me off my feet for a few minutes. Janet is up now and checking the internet to see how much wine she can take back!!! *grin* Shoes are first on today's agenda. She wants dressy. Of course, I want/need walking. Bomber greetings, -Em DeVINE ('52) ~ from *rubbing it in* lovely Paris, France. Tomorrow we go back to London for 2 days. *************************************************************** *************************************************************** >>From: Marian "Martie" WADE Jenkins ('57) To: Jim HAMILTON ('63) Contact our fellow Bomber's congressman. I had trouble with Social Security getting my son's check to him and my congresswoman got it taken care of in two weeks. Prayers for him. -Marian "Martie" WADE Jenkins ('57) *************************************************************** *************************************************************** >>From: Bonnie ALLEN ('59) My lovely sister, Marlene ALLEN LeCount ('56) passed away on July 6 after a battle with cancer. Her last email to me was before she started chemo: "Don't worry about me. I will get through this too." I wasn't able to talk to her again. She passed away 2 weeks after starting chemo and radiation. We will never forget Marlene and her love for us and her determined spirit. -Bonnie ALLEN ('59) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [I will be doing a Bomber Memorial with more formation. -Maren] *************************************************************** *************************************************************** >>From: PERSONS Dean ('60) To: Jim HAMILTON ('63) HI, I am going through stage 4 cancer since last October. brain cancer, yes with a 15 different days of radiation... yes cancer in the bones, liver. where ever.. Derrith PERSONS Dean ('60) *************************************************************** *************************************************************** >>From: David RIVERS ('65) Re: I kin take it So I guess I haven't been anecdotal enuff for the Senior Squid ('54) lately... I guess sometimes I gots the engerny and sometimes I duzn't... yesterday I spent several hours in the heat with my Buddy Magoo... We had planned on going to the funeral for our long time friend, Ralph Lamb who was the Sheriff in this little berg from '61-'79... if ya ever saw the show supposedly based on that time it was pretty much hog wash... I never watched it but anyone who knew him said it was pretty silly... I shoulda gone to the premier but getting me outa the house at night is a lost cause most of the time... Ralph and I lived close to each other in several neighborhoods and were what I like to think good friends... Ralph hadda way of getting people to do what he wanted including taking matters I didn't especially wanna take... but hey... When Magoo finally left SEAL team 1, he went to work in Ralph's special ops... now special ops was whatcha might call the "Welcoming Committee" for the unwelcome... prolly 'nuff said on that... Ralph was a cowboy's cowboy... one time he and I hadda fly to Carson City for a hearing... he had just had the veins stripped from his legs... he got outa that hospital bed and off we went... only the weekend before that he had been bulldogging steers... the morning of the funeral the boys called and said it was gonna be a zoo at the church... the Hollywood crowd was coming and it was for sure they'd all want photo ops... Cliff, the older son made an announcement that there would be a special set up for them so they wouldn't disrupt the funeral and it was suggested that graveside was for Family and close friends... Magoo and I headed over to the cemetery at the end of my block when we saw the honor guard show up and waited till the famblie and friends arrived... it was intimate and touching with all the hugging and kissing... Rex Allan, Jr. sang a sweet song and the riderless horse brought tears to the eye... the boys, their wives and other famblie members all got cartridges from the 21 gun salute... I was a good boy and left them for the others (shocking I know)... I don't particularly want a funeral, but if I had one... that was one to emulate... at least the graveside part... Yesterday, I should have spent a little more time on the B-day guy... As I said I've known him most of my life... From the time he could talk, he called his mom "Grace"... I mean it was her name so... As with most of my friends there are a million stories I could tell about him but this one really sums it all up... Grace could be a bit overprotective and she used to take him in the women's bathroom with her... as happens, he grew to an age where the ladies were a tad uncomfortable with his presence... at some point he had enuff and stared one lady down and said "Whatsamatter lady, ain'tcha never seen a midget?!" Today's Bomber-babe is one I've know, I believe since 6th grade... I can still see her inna grade school picture and I'm pretty sure I'm right... ain't seen her inna while and I am really looking forward to doing so at our 50 year... HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Cindy PAYTON ('65) on your special day, June 12, 2015 (I promise no bathroom stories)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -David RIVERS ('65) *************************************************************** *************************************************************** >>From: Shirley COLLINGS Haskins ('66) Re: NYC celebrates Women's World Cup winners ~ 7/11/15 Herald "NEW YORK — Fresh off its World Cup championship, the U.S. women's soccer team got a hero's welcome on Friday with a ticker-tape parade in lower Manhattan mobbed by young girls and other flag-waving fans, followed by a City Hall ceremony where each player was given a key to the city." "Richland native and U.S. soccer goalie, Hope SOLO ('99), left, looks over the key to New York City as teammate Sydney Leroux, center, receives her key from first lady Chirlane McCray and Mayor Bill de Blasio during Friday's City Hall celebration for the Women's World Cup champions. Glen ROSE ('58) and Carol Rose (spouse - '62 Sunnyvale, CA), Betty McELHANEY Hudspeth ('57), and myself. We had a gentleman looking at our sign in sheet and inquired about our group. We told him about our monthly lunches and asked if he were a Bomber and he told us yes class of '75. We invited him to join us but he declined and I forgot to ask him his name. We told him when we meet so perhaps he will show up again but this time join us. Our favorite little waitress Linda was expecting her first baby on 5 July but the little one came a week early. She had told us it was going to be a girl and is her first child. {So, was it a boy or a girl?? -Maren] I didn't take my camera so no pictures this time around. We celebrated Glen's July birthday but he gave his piece of pie to his wife as I politely declined it. -Betti AVANT ('69) ~ from sunny but a bit cooler Richland *************************************************************** *************************************************************** >>From: Lori SIMPSON Hogan ('70) and Mike HOGAN ('70) Re: Mike QUANE's ('63) entry on 7/8/15 Mike, How can we contact Tim ('69) so the Hogans can get together with their cousin?
